Australia Day Cup

A near record 8 groups assembled to contest the Australia Day Cup on the Old Course. The stableford competition was played in ideal conditions with clear skies, virtually no wind and temperatures in the low 30's.

Most of the 30 players, which included guests Gemma Clarke and Andrew Crevald, were attired in Aussie themed trappings including colourful shirts, hats and flags!

Fairways & Greens

Only one picture received for this edition of the blog, taken by Keith when Dave managed to find the edge of the rough and a native grass tree to hinder his next shot!

Dave really up to his eyes in the bush!

Best Photo award
The blogger will award a golf ball each week to the two best photos received for publication. Hopefully this valuable prize will encourage members to share the triumphs and miseries of their fellow players!

Perry Lakes Sausage Sizzle

Following the competition players headed for the Perry Lakes picnic ground to feast on a sausage sizzle, indulge in the wide selection of beverages and hear the competition results.

Brett, Keith, Dave, Goochy & Earle take turns to brown the chopped onion and rotate the snags!

The President's Address

SOS Golf Group President, Brett Fordham, welcomed all present to the post game meeting and BBQ.

There are no birthdays to be celebrated by members this week and, in fact, none for the whole of February!!

Most unusually, the best score today was posted by our guest Gemma Clarke! Whilst congratulations are in order, only financial members are eligible to contest the Australia Day Cup!

If anyone has yet to pay their Annual subscription fees you should do so without delay as you will become un-financial by the end of January!

A reminder the AGM is to be held on 18 March, so anyone wishing to submit business, or nominate for any committee position should approach Brett, or other committee member, as soon as possible.

The PAR 3 competition will be held next Thursday, 2 February at the Claremont Lakes golf course. Derek will provide more details in the next day or two.

President Brett Fordham addresses members.

Please note that Shelley will put herself up for Treasurer for the current year but would like to have an understudy during the remainder of  the 2023 year who can take over the position at the 2024 AGM.

A replacement for the role of Communications Officer at the 2023 AGM is being sought as Peter's hearing problems make it difficult for him to carry out the functions effectively!

Best Dressed Aussie award

The prize for best dressed was won by Shelley Yeo seen here unwrapping her Aussie themed prize!

A few Magpies looking for scraps, but no plundering Kookaburras
came close to disrupt proceedings!

SOS Captain, Gerry Tessier, reads out the competition results.

Errr!!  Carol . . please explain!

Earle calls for a donation?
