Country Cup, 29 September 2013

Kwinana Golf Course, 29 September 2013.
(also known as "the day of the worst scores on record". Why? just take a look at the scores below...)

Country Cup
Prize sponsor: Bernie
"Dammit, it's raining!!!" Waking up at 6am was tough enough, the notion of playing under the rain is not really amusing.
Thanks to Peter, I got a lift at 7am at Leederville. During the trip, Peter asks: "Do you have a jacket? the weather forecasts have got worse since last night...". My answer was no. I don't generally check the weather forecasts every minute, I would expect that a forecast of 8 hours earlier would be pretty accurate. How wrong I was!!!
"Maybe I have a spare umbrella for you...". By 7:30am we were already at the golf club, and yes, Peter did have the spare umbrella. Very luckily, because it kept me kind of dry during the game, otherwise I would have been completely soaked in water.

The first thing that I noticed from the tee of #10 was how narrow were the fairways, it's going to be a tough day.
And tough it was. I played my worst game ever. I have to say that rain really puts me off when golfing. I don't mind it so much in many other sports, but golf under the rain... I'd rather wait in the club house...

Ok, scores.

Club Championship Round 6, 28 September 2013

Old Course, Wembley Golf Complex, 28 September 2013.
(also known as "the day of the Great Disappointment"...for the Docker's fans)

Club Championship Round 6
Prize sponsor: Glen

It was just a small group of us that turned up at Wembley, for 2 reasons:
1. the day after we would play the Country Cup, at Kwinana GC
2. there was the footy grand final, Hawthorn - Dockers
With the wisdom of hindsight, ... all those that stayed at home for reason 2, made a pretty bad decision!

2 pretty extraordinary things happened today:
- Paul G scored an EAGLE on the par 5 #4. Comment from Paul: "I'm surprised that we don't do it more often, it's only 430 meters..."
- I had my best 9 holes ever: 8 pars and 1 double bogey! Unfortunately my back 9 were VERY ordinary - dammit!!! Pathetic excuse: I am actually changing my swing, it worked on the front nine, it obviously did not in the back nine...

Oh, another extraordinary event: Glen did not score 78: it was not raining.

Scores!

Club Championship Round 5, 21 September 2013

Old Course, Wembley Golf Complex, 21 September 2013.
(also known as "the day that the novelties markers didn't make it back home")

Club Championship Round 5
Prize sponsor: Gim

Back to almost normal weather conditions, for a change.
The day opens with a mystery: where are the novelties markers, who has them? Who had them last week? Has Gary ever been involved in this at all?
So, quick thinking...and instead of the usual novelties we had the putting competition.
Highlights of the day:
 - my buggy been hit by a ball on the very first hole... PAUL C, THAT WAS YOU!!! :)
 - for the second week in a row, someone that was not me played my ball... MAL, THAT WAS YOU!!! :) I'm considering explosive balls as a deterrent for future recurrences.
 - Bernie and I had a cultural exchange of colorful expressions to be used after a missed put

Scores!
