SOS Golf: Par 3 at Claremont Lakes

SOS Golf Group's annual par 3 competition at Claremont Lakes took place on Thursday 2nd February and attracted 23 members and 1 guest, Jenny Treak.

The weather was perfect as the late afternoon sun streamed down, casting long shadows as teams of 3 adopted a shotgun start from 3 different locations on the all par 3 nine hole course.

The Warm Up

much to the astonishment of others!!

Stephanie scores a Hole in One on the 5th

Early in the game a loud noise heralded Steph's first ever hole in one on the downhill 91 meter 5th hole!

According to Steph it was a precision shot that bounced off the mound to the right of the green and rolled onto the green tracking right to left in an arc and into the hole!

Exhilarated by the HIO on the 5th, Stephanie came within 2 cms of scoring another HIO on the 7th hole!!

President's address

SOS President, Brett Fordham, welcomed everyone to the post match dinner and commended Derek for, once again, making the event such a well organised and enjoyable competition!

Brett also advised that information will be published in subsequent blogs containing the full range of 'SOS' clothing, prices and designs.

In regard to Shelley passing the Treasury role to another member during the next 12 months, it was explained that Shelly would be available to 'hold the hand' of the understudy for the whole of 2023, making it a very soft introduction to the role which would formally commence at the 2024 AGM. SOS Captain, Gerry Tessier, takes no pleasure in announcing that Nuria and Jenny
bottomed out with a score of 36, with Nuria being awarded
the bag of lollies.

Michael Curtis was congratulated for coming 1st, 3 points ahead of Stephanie in 2nd place and Carol Barrow in 3rd.

Quite remarkably, and showing what a tricky little course it is, only 3 birdies were scored, one by Colin on the 1st hole, and one by Keith on the 5th, the latter perhaps inspired by Steph's HIO, also on the 5th hole!! Stephanie also scored a birdie on the 7th after very narrowly missing another HIO!!
