Phew, What A Scorcher!

For those of you unfamiliar with the worst excesses of Rupert Murdoch, this was the traditional headline in the Sun newspaper for any day with a temperature of 20C or more.

The forecast 42C yesterday was enough to frighten most members away, with the weakest of excuses in most cases. For those brave enough to venture forth, we gather the golf was of the highest standard. David Ross took top spot on the podium with 38 points from Ross on 36 and Gary on 35!

NTP on 2nd Rod, NTP in 2 on 10th Earle, NTP on 16th Ross and Longest Drive on 18th Don (fourth in a row!)

Australia Day Cup

A scorcher of a day, which frightened a few golfers off. Earle's gone from hero to zero and back to hero again.

"I feel I'm going to make it to a podium finish today"

Earle Scarff: 40 pts
David Ross: 39 pts
Judith Holm: 37 pts

"If you can't win at golf, at least dress for golf!"

With any luck, the West Australian should now be publishing our results on Mondays. Keep an eye out for them. Pictures and reports come later.

Clearly Mike has just hit on a devilish scheme - expect handicaps to fluctuate wildly over the next few days.

Meanshile, the sausage sizzle is postponed until sometime in February, to give all of those sybaritic lotus-eaters time to get back to the city from their little Shangri-Las down south or wherever.

And an invitation from Shane McGinnis, who some of you will remember, to join him and his group for a round if you find yourself in Brisbane and at a loose end. Their SOS-like social group is called the Peninsula Social Club, and you can find contact details here:
