President's Cup

Some good scores today, in spite of the gusty conditions, and the Golden Hole went off, to the disappointment of everyone except Keith.

Our resident "coach" was absent today, recovering from surgery. We wished him well for his brain surgery, but for some unaccountable reason apparently they operated on his knee instead. Whatever.

OMG - Coach's knee,

All the best for a speedy recovery, Gary, and if you'd like to send him some coaching tips of your own while he's in no state to respond, his email is:

Eric Hendy showed off his ever-improving moustache, and indicated that rather than auditioning for a role as an extra in a forthcoming production of "Trench Warfare and How to Enjoy It" , he is in fact participating in a charitable exercise, which he encourages us all to support. Here is the real story:

Have you noticed that I look a bit different lately? I'm growing my moustache for 30 days and it's not just a bold fashion statement. I'm doing it to raise funds for the Movember Foundation, and I need your support:

I'm supporting the Movember Foundation because they’re tackling some of the most significant health issues faced by men. Your donations will help them stop men dying too young.

There are two ways you can contribute to my Mo growing effort:

Or, write a cheque to 'Movember' referencing my registration ID (13745690) and mail it to: Movember, PO Box 60, East Melbourne, VIC 8002, Australia

Learn about the important work Movember is funding and the impact your donation will have: https://au.movember.com/programs/cause?mc=5

There's a lot riding on this moustache, so thank you. I appreciate your support.

Mo Bro Eric Hendy

In fact, a number of other members have climbed on the bandwagon, albeit a little late. You'll see their efforts scattered through the blog.

The novelties went to the usual suspects. Well done, those multiple ball gatherers. Suppose it's only fair that the prizes go to the best golfers!

Greg has produced the annual book with all the prize winners and personal statistics. Many thanks, Greg, for a great effort as usual. It really is much appreciated.

And a record today for the fines. Congratulations to all of us, a selfless contribution to a very worthwhile cause, well done everyone. It's great when we can have a fun day out and still do something worthy.

Welcome to our guest, Alan Osborne, who managed to play with his sister, his brother and his brother-in-law, and still have an enjoyable afternoon. However, do not ask for a repeat of the joke about the one-legged jockey.

Congratulations to Roland, a great score, and commiserations for me having to console Frances for losing her first ever trophy on a countback.

However, during the week our girls had a great result at the Mandurah Country Club Charity Day, taking out the prize for the best women's team - congratulations all round

And our man. Peter "Hugh Hefner" Baird won the most glamorous bathrobe competition, featured here with his team of loyal bunnies.

A great day out, organised by Earle, and well-supported by SOS members.

THEN, the Annual Dinner. Great fun at the Pearl River Restaurant, and well done Stephanie, Shelley, Vickie and everyone else who helped make the evening go so well. We enjoyed the President's address, the excellent food, and the games which helped round the evening off.

The prizes which were awarded on the evening were as follows:
