Stableford

It took a countback to determine the winner, with Earle hitting a seven on the last to keep the competition open to the end.
Greg and Phil joined Earle on the podium, with 37 points all round.  Thanks to Judith for the photo.

Christmas Cup and Christmas Cheer

And you thought you had a bad lie!
Shelley nestled against the tree on the sixth. I'd love to say she got up and down from there, but she didn't!

Never mind.
Many thanks to Vickie and Earle for their hospitality at Wilton Place - as always, a very enjoyable pre-Christmas event.

We welcome Debbie as a member, and not before time apparently, with some magnificent drives from the tee today.

Sad to lose the following members, who will not be renewing next year:

Ric Evans
Steve Shyrock
Mike and Christine
Megan Jubb
David Ross

We'll miss you all - do stay in touch via the blog, and join us as a guest if you're back in town.

Good to see Gary back, and thanks for showing everyone that gruesome video with the needle going into your knee - a treat all round, Gary.

And our heartiest congratulations to David and Toni, after a very special day last Saturday.

Today's results:

NTP 2nd Stephanie
NTP in 3 on the 9th, Richard
LD on the 10th, 23 and over, Toni

Ambrose Pairs

Another beautiful Perth day, perfect for golf.

An early tee-off, 8.24 on the Tuart, and a small field, but no less competitive.

NTP on the 9th Ian
NTP on the 12th Earle
LD on the 17th Shelley - a mammoth drive

Don't forget the Christmas cheer, immediately after the game next week at Vickie and Earle's, 14 Wilton Place, Scarborough. Bring a Chris Kringle for around $10-15, and food as has been allocated. (Guys bring cheese, pate or biscuits, Shelley's talking to the girls).

And the results..

With 71.35, Greg and Richard

With 71, Ian and David

With 70.5, Colin and Lynne

Anniversary Cup and Sausage Sizzle

A day with some notable scores - notably bad that is. But a beautiful day for golf, and a great turnout for the sausage sizzle - thanks to Judith, Toni, Shelley, Malcolm and everyone else who contributed to a top afternoon at Perry Lakes.

The novelty markers didn't make it to the course, but no matter. We had a sort of putting competition instead, and got scolded by the course controller for slow play, and had lots of guests, so plenty of fun was had by all.

Our best wishes to Toni and David - we'll be thinking of you next week.

Today's scores are after the pictures. (That way you have to look at the pictures - Malcolm, go and look at the pictures from the dinner, too, otherwise we won't take any of you any more).
Yeah, well, eagle? So what, I mean, big deal. Let's see you get a kookaburra!
Who says golf is a tough game?
The snags'll be ready soon, and we're first in line!
Quietly confident that 68 won't be beaten
Yes, I won't be there next week - not unless we get it all tied up pretty quickly.
 A triumph of organisation
Ivar and Malcolm did a fantastic job.
This is more an apres-golf look, I feel.
I'd like to recommend a special favourite of mine.
See, you don't even have to play golf to get a drink at this club.
 Winners are Grinners
 Club President in thoughtful pose
 Tablecloth for the girls' end.
 Happy just to be here!
Eyes down for the Raffle - won by David W.
Big turnout for the SOS Summer Sausage Sizzle
Angie won the putting competition with just 28 putts! (Apparently it's the lowest score that wins!)

These members won nothing, but do they look like they care?

Discussing important things like accounts and constitutions.
We gather there may be seconds..

Debbie put her third card in with a score of 114 off the stick, so the handicapping committee will pronounce....

And a big welcome to our guests this week, with scores of..

Nicola 120
Paul Holl 106
Scott 101
Anne 99
Angie 93
Steve 90

Thanks for joining us, we hope you had a great time.

And now for the club scores..

Kerry 96 (but she'd had a lesson from the course pro during the week, which explains everything)
Paul 89 (but he'd had a lesson from Kerry during the week, which explains everything)
Vickie 89 (she had had several lessons the previous week, so you get the point!!)

And now, for the people who didn't have lessons.....

Oliver 83  (but he plays off a punitive handicap of 9 or something)
Allan 82 (but he won last week, so trying to give the rest of us a chance)
Don 81 (but he hadn't realised there wasn't a longest drive this week)
Earle 80 (who had to cope with the stress of leaving the novelties at home)
Judith 79 (who was worrying whether she had enough rolls for the sausage sizzle)
Derek 78 (who played much better on the first nine, but went to pieces on the second)
Lynne, Malcolm, Ian, Lorenzo, Ivar and Tony Lee all on 77
Toni Hodge 76 (who's still recovering from a celebration earlier in the week)
David W 75 (whose recent scores will be receiving attention from the handicap committee)
Richard 74 (which, quite frankly, is impressive)
Greg 73  (of whom it has been said recently "always the bridesmaid, never the bride". No, I don't know why either.)
Peter 72 (having played one-handed last week, recovered from gout this week and played with both hands. It obviously helps)
Shelley 72 (A typical Shelley round, consistent striking of the ball, accurate putting. Were it not for some wayward chipping...)
And on a most impressive 68, Glen showed us all the way to play.

Congrats, Glen - a well deserved victory, and at least one piece of silverware that's kept off Steph's mantelpiece...

Par Plus

Four seasons in one day, and an early start on the Tuart. Once we'd worked out the format, we discovered that it was entirely possible to end up with a score of minus eighteen - some of us came close!!

Advance notice of the sausage sizzle at Perry Lakes on Dec 8th - two weeks time.

We're moving towards affiliation and incorporation - some of you may have seen the required public notice in the local press this week. After one month we're then allowed to apply to incorporate.

Meanwhile, Golf WA are preparing for our affiliation, and we anticipate having GolfLink handicaps ready for everyone early in January.

Debbie's second card today, and the following results;

NTP 3rd Frances
NTP 9th Gim
NTP 15th Frances
LD 17th Paul

And today's leading scorers:

Malcolm -2
Allan  -2
Glen -1
Peter 0
Judith 0
Frances 0
Greg +1
Ian +2
Paul +6
David +8  - and he won the raffle!!
