Par on Tuart

Eighteen SOS Members and two guests, Gemma Clarke and Andrew Crevald, assembled at the Tuart's 1st tee for a game of PAR. There were clear skies, temperature around 30° c, but much cooler at the 7.14am start.

The gusty wind was from the south east and became stronger as the game progressed!

Fairways & Greens

Nothing was reported by players as to misadventure, poor etiquette, moments of despair etc. etc., so we have to  rely on the only two pictures taken by the blogger at the 15th green where Michael C had the misfortune to send his ball into the greenside bunker!

Fortunately, it only took Michael one stroke to escape the bunker and land on the green!

Michael swings down on his bunkered ball at the 15th green.
The ball on the bunker's lip belongs to Ian Holmes who narrowly missed the sand party!!

Michael admires his handiwork !
Next to play was Ian who managed to get close to the hole,
while Peter sank a long putt for a birdie!!

Surely there must have been more interesting play that was not reported to the blogger??

Pictures from Manjimup Country Club

Colin Kerr has sent pictures from his holiday course at Manjimup showing some of the 'distractions' to be found on the fairways!  Could this catch on at Wembley?

Plenty of dead trees around!

Stance is a bit wooden!

Brahman cows!

The long wait?

Post Match Meeting

SOS Captain, Gerry Tessier opened the meeting, noting the President, Brett Fordham, was not present to receive the meetings ovation for his birthday next Wednesday, 18 January!!

Annual Subscription Fees

Gerry also advised members that the SOS annual subscription fee of $140 was now due and any member that has not paid by month-end will become un-financial. Payments can be made in cash directly to Treasurer, Shelley, or to the SOS ANZ bank account (not Glen's booking fee a/c).

Par 3 Golf at Lake Claremont - Thursday late afternoon 2nd February

Not too late to pay your $33 fee and join the fun! Derek circulated a choice of food on Saturday. If you have yet to advise Derek of your meal choice and/or participation in the game, please do so now!

Results

Congratulations to Mark Hill for scoring +3 to take 1st place in the PAR competition.

Peter Baird (2nd) and Ian Holmes (3rd) both were 'all square'.

Only 3 points separated the next 9 players showing how costly a lipped out putt can be!

Ash Tray Collection

Michael Curtis accepted the honor of reading out the list of fines, although Gerry appeared with the same score, but lower on the count-back! ?

Carol points a finger at Keith!?

The collection tray's looked a little low in coins by the time the last item was read out, but perhaps most were gold in colour!?

Michael announces the fines, assisted by Earle holding the collection tray.

Raffle

Andrea spun the barrel and the fist number down the shute was held by Ian Holmes, who received a $20 gift voucher from our sponsor, Lot Six Zero.

Not just a good golf score, but winning the Raffle as well!

Captain's Choice & Next Week

The Captain's competition choice for next week is Canadian Cha Cha Cha (Australian waltz)!

Teams of 3 or 4 will be selected by Glen.
The scoring will be ONE best ball on the 1st hole (CHA), TWO best balls on the 2nd hole (CHA CHA), THREE best balls on the 3rd hole (CHA CHA CHA).
Keep the same rotation throughout, ie., one best ball on the 4th hole, two best on the 5th hole, three best on the 6th hole, and so on.
Use your regular score card and one player per team (captain of the team) will record the team score on a manual card.

End  💨
