Par Bisque on Old Course

A beautiful day for a round of golf! Low 30's temperature, a bit of cloud cover and little wind; perfect for a round of low scores!

Twenty five players, including guests Gemma Clarke and Andrew Crevald, teed off on the Old Course for a game of (Captain's choice) PAR BISQUE !

Tony James and Frances Longhurst resplendent in SOS colours !

Gerry on the Par Bisque scoring system!

Fairways & Greens

Almost nothing to report from the fairways or the greens however, Derek had spare time to snap a picture of a wily crow in need of a drink!

The crow had learnt to operate the water fountain on the 6th hole!

But share a thought for golfers in other parts of the world who have to contend with different types of hazards!!

Do not get close to a goose and its eggs!

'

This goose is upset?

Success! Golfer is taken down!!

President's Address

SOS President Brett Fordham opened the post match session by welcoming Tony James back to the players list after an absence of some 6 months!

Brett noted there were no birthdays to be celebrated by members this week!

Also, a reminder of the breakfast to be held at the Subiaco Lot Six Zero bistro & eatery tomorrow morning.

Members will receive the notice of meeting for the 2023 Annual General Meeting of SOS Golf Group Inc. in the next few days. The meeting will be held at the Perry Lakes BBQ area after the game on Saturday, 18 March.

Ash Tray Collection

Although not quite last, Brett took the honour of calling out the fines, ably assisted by collector Barry!
It seemed most players had something to donate for a wide range of wayward shots, poor sportsmanship & misdeeds!

Multitasking Brett calls the fines and collects!

Barry collecting donations from Tony & Glenn!

Raffle

Carol churns the raffle barrel and first prize goes to guest Andrew Crevald who collects a $20 gift card from SOS's major sponsor Lot Six Zero bistro & eatery!

Waiting for your number to come up?

Carol calls another number!

Next Week

The competition will be Ambrose 2 Ball Best Ball (Teams of 2) and played on the Tuart Course - greens will have been recently cored!

Groups of 2 players work as a team. Each player hits off the tee, the best shot is selected and the other player picks up their ball and places it, within one hand span, alongside the best ball.  Each player then hits a second shot from the same spot and continues the process until you hole out.

A minimum of 5 tee shots to be selected from by each player.

The Vice Captain's tournament choice for next week was to have been Chicago / Chicago, but has been postponed until later this year !

Captains Corner

Always remember that the ball is not holed until it is in the hole!! Take your time to sink a short putt as you would for any other shot!

SOS Breakfast at Lot Six Zero - Subiaco

A total of 18 members, partners and guests turned up for the breakfast at Lot Six Zero and by all accounts was most enjoyable as some hoed into poached eggs on toast and chatted about golf, handicaps and other relevant topics!

A group photo taken by the waitress!
