Club Championship Round 6

I feel a good round coming on. Maybe in a month or two.
Our Communications Officer is swanning it on a cruise. I have only two words for him: Costa Concordia.

Country Cup alert - next Sunday, 8.06 at Yanchep Golf Course. Watch out for these:

Kangaroo Ticks out and about this time of year. Watch out in the rough. Long pants a good idea. If you have an insect repellent with DEET, spray this around ankles, wrists and where top tucks into pants. They crawl into gaps. Watch bare arms. Seriously - they're not very nice. I speak from experience.

If you get one, good advice for dealing with them here. Don't just rip them off.

Let Gary know if you want a cart - apparently the course is "hilly"
So, on to today.

How come I've got to play with Derek again?
Not sure what happened to the "Showers increasing". Thanks BOM, carried all the wet weather tackle around for nothing!

"Steph's bum is 122". Is that inches or centimetres?
Welcome back to Ian and Earle. Two weeks at Golf School in the Land of the Long White Cloud and what do we get --- a windy!
Hitting them nice and straight today.

Greens sanded, so a lot of putts left short.

But, for those of us who were able to master the conditions:

Barry's going to enjoy this.

Apparently the fines were very disappointing this week. Peter reports that we generally raise a good $20, today we barely made $14. Did we just play well?

Thank you to Graeme for his generous sponsorship. We gather Barry will be enjoying a wide range of toasted sandwiches in the days and weeks ahead.

Beginning to look like a golf course again.

Par Bisque

Sponsored by the beautiful Gim.

Birfday Card from my Mum-in-Law

And so it was onto the practice game of Par Bisque, as welcomed back Rob Colourful Gray,,,, the alleged birfday boy unto the fold of the cheery SOS.

Plus there were big things expected with the return of Bernie Killkenny Caffrey,,,,,

And Brenda No Photos Jones can't have been too put off last week by my presence as she returned for her second round,,,,,

Welcome back to one and all on a glorious spring day finally!!!!!

Even The WeatherMan couldn't fault it.

So what happened,,,,,, well to make our contest a bit more fun The Poms (Paul & Glenn) decided to initiate a kinda Ashes Golf Contest as we took on the might of The Aussies (Brett & Gary),,,,,

The joint handicaps amounted to the same, and all was going neck and neck until Paul Yippy Gardner developed a bad case of the YIPS on the 12th,,,,,

From that point on and as it funnily enough coincided with Sober Gardi,,, there was to be no return for The Poms.

Shot after shot was conceded until the hill just became too steep to climb back.

DAMN U, U SOBER GOLFING GODS!!!
Heheheheheeeee

So what happened with rest of the groups????

Results
Once again the money was taken by a simply SUPERB round, as Malcolm stormed to a 3 point win with the excellent score of +10

WELL DONE MALC, despite the failing back on the last 3-4 holes,,,,,, and boo hiss to Shelley for convincing him to carry on.

+7    Tom
+6    Ross (CB)
+6    Ciaran

and sorry i've forgotten the rest, but i did hear they were in The West on Monday.

Novelties
NTP--  Stiff
NTP--  Bernie
NTP--  Malc
LD--    Rob

So it looks like the rest, and being away from SOS has helped a couple of our returnees,,,

Golden Hole
As promised by Pretty Boy, he delivered the Golden Hole to take away the significant amount of $18.
Cleaned up on the course, and cleaned up on the bar.

Fines of the Week
After being near mortally wounded by The Attack of the Yips, i didn't pay too much attention over the fines so they are few and far between,,,,
though pretty good if i say so myself hhehehehehe

Glen-- after hitting one shot fat, and then analysing his swing tempo
"Bugger I got it fat, and it was too quick!"

Brett-- for simple tree abuse,,,,, hitting almost every tree on the course whilst avoiding Tree-to-Fairway fines, and staying pretty much in play!

Stiff-- after winning yet another novelty stating
"Peter, i don't like those balls, can you get me some more!"

Ciaran-- for illustrating his prowess in a golf cart, including his hooning around in the carpark where thankfully Gordo  used his delicate balancing skills to maintain it in an upright position.

Brenda-- welcome to your first FotW, and believe me it won't be your last,,,,, for the trick shot on the last with a fantastic Fence to Fairway., and a hefty shout of
"FORE LEFT!!!!!!"

Post match discussions over the round, and the 'polishing details' for later

Getting the speeches in order

Just wait til i see ya on the roads peeps,,,,,

Spring Cup rnd2

Sponsored by the lovely Dave Williamson.

And now there's no WA team in the AFL Finals it's time to look forward to the cricket season, and of the golf including The Ryder Cup!!!!
Woo hooo

The bets were down, odds taken and accepted for the question of
"Who will bring home the Spring Cup?"

Will Brett Pretty Boy hold firm against the wishes of Brett The Hexed Bunnings Bear?

Will Deadly Derek follow up his outlandish 1st round score and take home the bacon?

Will Paul The Pom choke once again, in the face of his trio of lovely female playing partners?

One of which was our new guest Brenda

welcome m'dear to 'the initiation round' as you were luckily drawn with the Sweary Master.
Your chorus of 'shivers' was very amusing and i was really glad when you let rip after a few holes with some proper language hehehehe

or will the winner come from the pack,,,,,,,,Time will tell,,,,,,

A little bit of pre-match banter before the game,,,,

The Results
Yes indeedy,,,,, Deadly came through with another mighty round and retained the Spring Cup.
A marvellous achievement defending the Cup,,, CONGRATS!!!!

Golden Hole
Due to the amount being particularly insignificant and unrewarding nobody tried too hard, and thus the pot grows!!!

Country Cup- Yanchep Sun City
It's nearly there peeps, but unfortunately Wifey & I will be cruising around Asia and missing the one course i've wanted to play for ages!!
Anyway, the menus will be passed around so please get yourself there for a fantastic day out and enjoy the food,,,,,

i expect to hear some tails of daring do, fabulous shots, and merriment

Fines of the Week
For what was largely quite a low scoring round there were a good few Fines, so please bear with me and have a chuckle at some of your colleagues misfortune:-

Colin-- and his Ernie Els style of 6 putt conkers,,,, excessive swearing by any chance???
Club abuse???

Roland-- for his quote in Terminator stylie, "Put me in a closet!"
though i've absolutely no idea of what he was talking about,,,, but then again i rarely do unless the whiskey has been flowing.

Phil Mckeague-- for no other reason than shooting a 72 with a 10 on the card!!!!!!!

Charmaine-- for trying out for the javelin at the next Olympics as she threw her plastic fork for the chips n gravy whilst bellowing "Fork You!" hehehehehee

Colin to Greg-- "you're going to need a parachute to get down from that chair Greg!"

Tom-- and his beautiful double-slut on the Golden Hole.
There were so many pics i wanted to put here, but i fear the Blog might have been shut down if i did :-)

Peter-- for going 'fishing' again, but this time managing to lose his trusty hat into the bargain.

Derek-- for not only retaining the Spring Cup, but complaining that it was really dusty and stating that Fran will be busy polishing it tonight,,,,,
i hope that went well for ya mate!!!! Hehehehee

The Pros-- for announcing "The shout of Fore, is a warning NOT an apology!"

Come on,,,,,, who ducked?????????
