Stableford on Tuart

A great day for golf with a hint of coolness in the air but clear skies and indications summer is not too far away. Indeed, there was an encounter with a live dugite and also a dead magpie!

Goochy on the 15th!

The competition was a straightforward round of stableford on the Tuart Course and 23 SOS player turned up for the game including Gerry Tessier, still jet lagged from his return from holidays in Canada, and new member Kark Wolzak.

Conspicuous by his absence was intended guest bloggist Paul (aka Gonch) Gardner!

From the archives . . Pug Dog when he was a kid!

!!

Goochy takes a swing from the face of the 5th tee aiming for
the 4th green watched by 4D from the group in front

Peter found this magpie near his ball, close to the 9th green.
Fortunately rigor mortis had set in clearing him from an 'abuse of wildlife' fine!

Brett putts for birdie on the 10th!
Andrea scored a birdie on this hole as well!!

Kerry checks out the lie of her ball on the 13th fairway before
making an impressive recovery shot up the hill between tree and shrub!

Kerry executes shot with precision!

Greg finds the water on the 14th!!
That is one hell of a fishing pole!

Brett's 2nd shot on the par 5, 15th hole found the greenside bunker ~ unfortunately it was a provisional ball as the first went down the left side fairway. Team members Vickie, Kerry and Peter spend some time in the left rough trying to locate 4D's ball!

Brett's group must have come perilously close to a snake, and possibly disturbed it, as Goochy, in the following group, also put his ball into the left rough and, whilst looking, came face to fang with a 2 metre dugite!!

Summer obstacles!

Club Championship, Round 7

.

The final round of the Club Championship. Now we can all relax and look forward to a game of Stableford next week.

Have you ever noticed in movies how the villain is always
the guy with a cigarette?

A bit nippy to start with, then as the sun came out there was a touch of humidity, before we got the sun cream out and enjoyed blue skies for the rest of the day.

.

A bit of confusion at the start, but our extremely effective management committee worked it all out, and we teed off on time.

Look, put us together with him, he
always watches where the balls go.

There were some errant drives off the first green tee, which was only a couple of inches in front of the black tee, so we had excuses.

.

And the Golden Hole went off on the third.

Hilly just fails to creep inside Earle's Golden Hole shot

Earle promptly collected $84, and Vickie has already worked out how she will be spending it.

I think they're in here somewhere

BTW, the handicaps weren’t altered as a result of last weeks Par Plus round, as apparently Golflink doesn’t recognise Par Plus as a proper competition.

Can’t blame them.

..and then I've made a separate column for euros in the fines,
now everyone's coming back from holidays

Coming up on October 1st is the Country Cup at Yanchep Sun City. Andrea will be sending out details, but in short, $70 with a meal for members, $90 for guests, and $60  for a cart (but the course is eminently walkable, just watch out for the barranca.

Pug dog firmly on the trail of the phantom drinker

Pay the SOS Booking Account, and be careful if you have a standing order to amend it for the week in question.

Par Plus on the Old Course

Wembley put on the best of spring weather as 16  SOS diehards set forth for a game of Par Plus on the Old Course.  Blue skies, a bit cool to start, but warmed up with occasional light breezes providing ideal playing conditions.

No pictures of the start, however, this is group 2 on the 18th green closing in for their final putts.

Tony, Glenn & Drue.
Gordon out of frame on back right.

Stephanie uses a putter to rescue her ball from a large tree trunk!

Earle chooses a rescue club to get his ball back on the fairway!

The next photo is a celebration of the art of the long hitter!

Brett's tee shot on the 12th landed on the hole 16 tee after failing to cut the corner of the dogs leg!!
His next shot was rifled down the 15th fairway . . against the flow of play
before a third shot made it up and over the line of trees back onto the 12th fairway!

With the 18th green in the background (behind Andrea's legs) the
left side bunker bears the scars of Brett's out of control buggy
which fell off the top and into the bunker!

Recovery made, Brett uses remote control
to steer his buggy out of the bunker!

President's Address

SOS President, Tony Gooch, welcomed all present top the post game meeting and announced that Vickie is celebrating her birthday today!

Happy Birthday Vickie ! !  ðŸŽˆ  ðŸŽ†ðŸŽ‡ðŸŽˆðŸŽ‰

Tony also noted the annual SOS Country Cup event (which is held on a Sunday) is coming up soon with plans to hold it at the Sun City Resort at Yanchep. Further details and confirmation of venue will be available soon.

While not on the podium, Brett did score 3 birdies!

The Results

Congratulations to Gordon and Greg for each scoring +2 to come 1st and 2nd respectively.

Keith narrowly beat Glen P for 3rd place, also on a countback!

The Podium

Next week the Old Course pot will include a carry over of $61 from 29 July 19 & 26 August.

Eagles & Birdies

Tony Gooch scored a magnificent EAGLE on the par 5, 17th and very nearly scored a second birdie on the 18th hole when his 3rd stroke bounced on the green, from about 50 metres, before running up to the hole, doing a 360° in the cup and stopping just a few centimetres from the hole!

Goochy shoots for par on the 18th!

A total of 8 birdies were scored by 5 players:

Brett :  9, 11, 17
