Christmas Cup

A splendid day for a game of golf and a chance to win the Christmas Cup!

Plenty of cloud cover, temperature in the mid 20's and an occasional gust of wind to add an additional element to be factored in to every stroke!

The 7.15 am start was a bit painful for some however, a total of  24 SOS members lined up for the stableford competition on the Old Course!

President's Address

SOS Club President, Brett Fordham, welcomed all present to the final post match meeting for 2021.

Brett thanked Jenny and Barry for providing the very comfortable venue for the meeting and to the social organising committee members for serving up a wide spread of delectable snacks!  The drink supply was also well up to its normal high standard making the whole event most enjoyable for all!

There were no birthdays for members to celebrate until early in the new year!

Golden Hole

After 5 weeks of near and not so near misses the Golden Hole finally 'went off' when Peter hit his ball into gusting  winds, about 5 metres to the left of the flag! The ball obligingly kept its track before bouncing off the left shoulder onto the green and swinging right toward the flag!

Peter's decision to up-club from a 20° to 17° Ping rescue club,
to account for the wind gusts, paid dividends - $116 to be exact!

Peter holds the bag of loot for taking out the Golden Hole!

 Novelties

Congratulations to the winners of the Novelty holes, particularly to Gary and Shelley who had to string together 2 and 3 successive strokes, respectively, to claim the honour.

Next Two Weeks

There will be no game next Saturday, 25 December.  Not only does this fall on Christmas Day, but the current weather forecast is predicting 42 C, which might challenge the physical limits of most members!!

However, the following Saturday is New Years Day when a stroke competition will be held on the Tuart Course for the New Years Cup.
