Anniversary Cup

Another very early 7.15 am start for a stroke competition on the Old Course with the winner taking the Anniversary Cup.  Clear skies, a summer breeze and a forecast 32 c required equal amounts of attention to hydration, club selection and stroke technique!

Gary, Barry, Mark W & Gerry ready for battle!

Richard and Birgit looking confident!

Frances and Derek get in some putting practice !
Will it help?

Teeing off at the 1st, Gerry lift his left heel !?

Garry has his own style !

Gordon tucks his ears under the hat - now that is a good idea!

On the Fairways

Not much was reported from members in the way of disastrous shots, maiming of wildlife, unmissable putts and such like, although I am sure there must have been a few!

The Unmissable putt!

Richard's tee shot off the 3rd fell just short of the ladies tee!!
Ooops!!

Peter, Richard O & Steph take a rest on the 5th tee bench !

Richard waits on the 10th tee for the mob in front to recover
 from their wayward tee shots!

Steph and Birgit also wait for the fairway to clear.

Presidents Speech

SOS President Brett Fordham calls the meeting to order

Best birthday wishes were conveyed to Gim Ong who celebrated her birthday on 2 December!

Brett advised that a total of $175 had been raised from Ash Tray contributions during November which has enabled SOS to donate that amount to the Kings Park Honour Avenue maintenance.

Another perspective on the President's speech!

The Anniversary Cup

SOS Captain Gerry Tessier called out the results of competition starting with 23rd place graciously accepted by Derek Longhurst with a score of 87.

But the winner was Garry Burgess with an excellent score of 67 which included 3 birdies!

Brett Fordham took 2nd place, 2 points behind, on 69 with 2 birdies. While Lynley Hunter was just 1 point behind Brett on 70 with a birdie on the 17th.

In fact, 75% of the 8 birdies came from the 3 podium winners!

Best Improved Handicap
Included in the photo of winners is Frances Longhurst who won 'Best Improved Handicap' award for the 2 months ended 30 November!
Frances reduced her handicap by 0.7 points from 20.4 to 19.7.

Ash Tray Collection

Derek did a spirited job in calling out the list of fines and exhorting members to cough up their loose change in order to purge their guilt and add to the SOS coffers!

Derek focusses on the west end of the table where members were
having difficulty remembering how they played!

Shelley extends the fines collection box so the
 rear table can willingly donate!

 The Raffle

Coupon number 30 was the one to have, and Peter miraculously won the $10 and Scratchie.

Thanks to Richard for spinning the barrel and calling out the winning numbers.

Don't Forget

The Par 3 Competition will be held on Thursday, 3rd February at 5:30 pm. Cost will be $30 for golf and meal - more details to follow from Derek.
