STABLEFORD

After all the excitement of the Annual Dinner, and some vigorous midweek golfing activity for some of our members, this was a rather subdued and relaxed competition.

The weather was kind, most of the flies were on holiday, and the scores were pretty impressive.

Now Lynne is the new Vickie - anything's possible

A three-way tie for first, with forty points. But more of that later.

Happy birthday to Max, who has now completed his exams and can concentrate on his golf.

And happy birthday to Ross, who apparently clocks up the good old six-oh. Personally, I don't think he looks a day over fifty-nine, but you be the judge..

Another first today - we sold all the raffle numbers, so upped the first prize to $20, and the second prize to $5. It really pays to be an SOS member these days!

Greg cleans up in the raffle

During November, our fines have been going to the Returned Service charity, and Shelley has been prising generous contributions from all the members. A big thank you to everyone.

And a couple of extra fines this week - one for Carol, who apparently was hooning around in her buggy and rolled over Jack's ball, and one for John who lost control of his buggy, with it ending up in the bunker, albeit still upright.

Talking of John, a reminder from him of the local rule, permitting a free drop from tyre marks -  but apparently don't go trying this at Cottesloe, it is just a local rule.

The novelties provided some interesting challenges today, even after Bruce misread John's 8 for a 9 - no matter, we still had a winner. And the main event...

Thanks to Keith for his generous sponsorship, and a pleasure to play with him today.

Keith and Derek both picked the same spot to land their drives

Congratulations to Max, and commiserations to Greg who managed 40 points and came home third. On any other day you'd think 40 would guarantee a win.

Now exams are finished, this should be able to buy me a good time somewhere..

A reminder, scores are posted in the West Australian on a Monday - seems a surprising number of people read them.

Greg wins the B Grade Championship

Next week, some of us will be away in sunny Tasmania, having a bit of a golf-a-thon. Paul will do a guest blog, while John, Shelley and Kerry will stand in for us.

The Christmas Cheer event will take place immediately after the game on December 22nd at the Longhurst's in Claremont - I'll publish a map nearer the time. Bring a Secret Santa prize, for about $10-$15. There'll be stuff to eat and drink.

Next week, Ambrose Fours on the Tuart. All have fun.
