Spring Cup Round 1, 7 September 2013

The Spring Cup has been won by Kerry, get on with it

ok, ok, for those reeeeeally keen to read the weekly bulletin, please go ahead. At least it's Kerry and not Glen or Gary, for a change.

Spring Cup (because it's spring now)
Prize sponsor: Paul Cooper

Nice weather today, just perfect for a refreshing day in the fairways of Wembley. My game started pretty well, with 2 pars in the first 2 holes. But at the number 5 there were already signs that something was not going right. At first, a few of us queuing at the starter had the privilege to see Ian training for the olympic 100m, hurrying back to the starter to play a new ball. Soon after our sandwich super-hero, the guy whizzing with the electric cart in opposite direction of play, with a fine selection of your least favorite snacks, took a harsh bump and got the money box smashing on the ground, scattering coins all over the starter. Although I had my offer to help turned down, I still managed to find a 10c coin afterwards. And that's where my luck ended.
At hole #7 scored had a triple bogey; at #11 horror strikes: don't know quite what happened, but I mis-hit my driver and had my ball resting unplayable. Even worse, on #13 scored a record-breaking 10, losing a ball and visiting all hidden corners of the hole. (Later in the day I learnt that someone else actually scored 11 on that same hole in the same day...)
To cut a long story short, what seemed to be a very promising day turned in fact into a nightmare.
So the lesson learnt today is: no matter how well you play on a particular day, at any time be afraid, very afraid. But at the same time: relax.

Enough about me. Scores.
