EASTER CUP

EASTER CUP

So, here we are at last.

Taking no prisoners today

It’s Easter, but the sun is still shining.

Planning to tee off down the middle today

Sun cream weather well into autumn.

No longer Captain, going to enjoy myself just playing golf

That’s the beauty of Perth.

Revv'd up and ready to go

A reasonable field today, 24 golfers on the card.

Driving lessons? I don't need driving lessons.
I've driven a cart before lots of times.

Nuria still in recovery. Colin caring for family in England. Kerry in America. Lynne and Shelley still cruising.

But Frances and Derek back from Sydney.

And James still nursing his foot, but giving the golf a go.

And his first time managing the novelties.

Vickie tree-hugging for the second hole in succession

Did anyone have cause to use the new lost ball rule?

All our friends in one picture

Birthdays for Kerry, Colin and Paul Boquest this week. Happy birthday you'all.

Next week, the fixtures would suggest American Foursomes, but the consensus is that since we played this recently, we’ll play something else. Probably a fun game as we shortly begin a series of ‘serious’ games, for which no quarter will be asked or given.

The time is 7:24 again. Pyjamas are considered suitable garb for the first nine holes.

Don't you love this game?

Not so much "great shot" all the time.  Let's have a bit more honesty in the game:

There were birdies a-plenty today:

Keith on 6 and 18

Goochie 4 and 15

Mark Wilson on 7, 8, 15 and 16

Hilly on 2

Derek on 6, and

Lynley on 15.

That downhill par 5 15th always a birdie favourite.

And apparently this was the safest place for the wildlife when Greg was on the 18th tee today.

After his shot went in the water, his disappointment was overwhelming. As he strode purposefully to the edge of the pond, apparently preparing to end it all, his playing partners called out to him "Don't do it Greg, don't do it."

So he didn't.

Meanwhile, some of us had difficulty judging distance on the green.

Are these greens sanded, or has the grass grown back?

Peter Baird walked up to the 18th tee, reminding us that the last two times he had played the hole, he had put his ball in the water.

That’s right - he did it again. And with his second effort.

Sometimes it just feels like this is the shot

And the novelties:

Girl’s longest drive on the 5th - Carol, then Vickie, then Frances.

Men’s longest drive on the 8th - Earle, beaten by Hilly

NTP in 3 on the 11th, Goochie, beaten by Keith

NTP in 2 on the 10th, Gary

and NTP on the 18th, Goochie, beaten by Keith again.

Gardy had the edge on the longest drive, unfortunately it just crept off the fairway.

These don't count!

The results today

An exceptional result for Steph, playing off 14.

Beat 80 off the stick for the first time today

And congratulations to Frances and Keith, both enjoying a podium finish.

Disappointment for Roland. Having qualified for the lollies, Andrea admitted she had left them in the fridge at home.

Negotiating that tricky interregnum between administrations. We'll all have it sorted soon.

An interesting outcome on the raffle, where Vickie, not content with picking Earle’s number for the first prize, went on to pick his other number for the second prize.

Just a coincidence, really.

The government invigilators were not happy.

Still waiting for that first hole in one? This may help explain the problem;
