Diggers Trophy

The first Saturday in November is reserved for a 'par' competition for the Diggers Trophy and a month of Ash Tray collections to fund SOS's annual donation toward upkeep of the Kings Park Honour Avenues.

Spring was definitely in the air as 19 SOS members and one guest, Mitchell Smith, got ready for a 7.15 am start on the Tuart Course. Light winds and mostly blue skies provided favourable conditions for scoring those elusive positive scores!

Same feeling when approaching the 14th green?!

On the Fairways

Mark's 2nd shot on the 8th hole travelled a lot longer that his first!

Birthdays

Club Captain Gerry Tessier noted that Peter Baird was celebrating his 49th birthday today!

The Results

Only 12 strokes separated 1st from last and Mark Wilson's forgettable round landed him with the bag of lollies with a score of -8.  Such is the result from two golf lessons during the week! Seems that Mark played better before the lessons.

Mark Wilson wins the lollies

However, all podium places were filled by those with positive scores and congratulations to Earle Scarff who won by a 3 point margin with +4 followed by Tony Gooch, Mark Hill and Peter Baird all on +1.  Peter came 4th in the countback!

Tony Gooch 2nd, Gerry Tessier (Club Captain), Earle Scarff (with trophy) & Mark Hill (3rd)

Birdies

Only 3 birdies today and two by Tony Gooch! Colin scored on the par 3, 6th hole with a tee shot that, on any other day, might have resulted in a H-I-O.

Novelties

Well done to the winners!

Over half of those playing managed to get their name on the markers and no-one appears twice . . . unusual!!!
