BennKerr Cup Final Round

Spring weather greeted 22 SOS players eager to contest the final round of the BennKerr Cup. The competition was American Foursomes Stableford on the Old Course and Team Rest of the World had some catching up to do after being beaten by Team Australia 23 to 32 last week!

Some players were more resourceful than others in dressing up in their national garb.

Below is a photo from the 11th tee when Team Australia realize they had not been recording their score and that the only scores noted were that of Team ROW (also a Team of 1).  Memory banks had to be dusted off in recalling all scores up to the 10th.

President's Address

President Brett Fordham welcomed all present to an historic day, as yet another trophy is added to the SOS list of competitions. The BennKerr Cup is to honour the two most senior club members, Greg Bennett and Colin Kerr, who were both foundation members of the SOS Golf Group in 1972. The competition is between two groups, Team Australia represented by those born here and, Team Rest of the World, for those that were not!

Brett also announced that both Frances and Barry will celebrate their birthdays on Sunday, 24 October!

The BennKerr Cup

And the winners, by a clear 24 point margin, are Team Australia !!

TEAM  AUSTRALIA

Captain of Rest of the world, Gerry Tessier, explains their defeat was
probably due to anomalies in the scoring system!

Team Australia are presented with the BennKerr Cup and individual gift cards by Captain Gerry Tessier.

Golden Hole

No-one claimed the Golden Hole so it jackpots to a larger sum! Most members take extra time in club selection and lining up the flight path on the par 3. Is this why they rarely get close to the pin?

Novelties

It takes a good golf stroke, or be in one of the early teams, to get on the Novelties list! Congratulations to the following for their efforts!

Ash Tray & Fines

Due to the inability to identify the lowest scorer, the Club President stepped in to call out the fines.
There were a good number of lost balls, equipment malfunctions and bad play to collect a large quantity of coins for SOS's philanthropic endeavours!

Plenty of food on the table with a wide variety of drinks to wash it down!

A beautiful day - with not a sign of a Kookaburra??
 Were they culled?
