Match Play Quarterfinals

The forecast was for thunder, lightning and rain by the bucket-full and plans had been made to abandon the event if the forecast had materialised on Saturday morning!  However, as SOS has frequently encountered, the rain gods smiled down on us allowing the Match Play Quarterfinals to proceed in style.

As heavy rain fell to the south west and to the north east, conditions on the Wembley Old Course, apart from being pretty cold, were quite favorable allowing the 8 quarter finalists to strut their stuff while those that had been previously eliminated battled it out in a stableford competition.

Quarter finalist opponents Brett and Boris consider their chances before the round.
The money ($200 vs $60) was on Brett.
The Club Captain does his best to alter the odds!

President's Address

Brett Fordham thanked those who organised the International Night at the Lot Six Zero eatery in Subiaco last Saturday. The event was considered to be a resounding success and plaudits were bestowed on our Social organiser, Carol Barrow, and to Glen and Lindsey Pope for supplying the venue.

Our Treasurer, Shelley, provided details of the clubs finances

The scores indicate there were at least two close results and the battle between Gary and Frances raged over 3 additional playoff holes, all on the 18th hole. Frances prevailed and Gary was left to ponder the outcome had the battery on his 'ProPutter' cart not lost power on the 2nd playoff hole!

  1. there's no perfect swing, no perfect technique, shot or decision, just the simplest we will do. However, Japanese club makers Honma (for over 50 years) do their utmost to defy this statement. They still strive for perfection from their clubs, and by using the simplest materials possible and arduous dedication to their craft, they get pretty damn close.
