Winter Cup, Round 2

I always like to start the round with
clean balls!

It's the second round of the Winter Cup.

Pretty serious

A serious undertaking for those still in the running.

Very little at stake for us

A relaxed and enjoyable game of golf for the rest of us, with less at stake.

Especially after scoring a ten on the first hole. (For instructions on just how to score ten on the first hole, see the end of this blog)

Gary and Boris undecided on correct orientation of umbrella holder.

The novelties were keenly fought over as always:

The Longest Drive on the fifteenth was subject to protests from the girls, who were being asked to tee off from just in front of the guys, instead of their usual tee. Notwithstanding, Maureen still managed to get her name on the board,.

LD#15 Derek, Maureen, MARK HILL.

Nearest the pin on the second presumably favoured the big hitters, and no surprise here for the winner:
NP #2 Mark W, Greg, GOOCHIE

The thirteenth, two big hits to get on the green here. Straight, but long.

NP #13 Gary, Glenn K, Glen P, GOOCHIE AGAIN!

The twelfth, a good shot from anyone can pick this one up - several did, but first one in gets the chocolates

NP #12 VICKIE, Keith, Gary, Goochie, Glen, Barry, Gordon.
It's the well-established legal precedent of primi veni-I was first

But of course, we're all interested in the major competition.

The tension was palpable

Played over two weeks, with the winner the best aggregate score.

This could be mine...this could be mine..
Here are the results -

A three-way tie for first place!! Reach for the countback rules...

The winner on the day, by four strokes. And the winner of the cup on countback!!

And the second round leaders

I'll save some of the lollies for Derek

Thanks to Birgit for excellent photographic coverage of the day's events.

There were a few die-hards who stayed on long after the raffle.

Die hards...and proud of it!

There's more to SOS than just the golf!

AND NOW, HOW TO SCORE A TEN ON THE FIRST HOLE

1. Hit first ball high into the trees on the left.

2. Wait for other players to hit ball down centre of fairway.

3. Hit provisional ball high into trees on the left.

4. Set off to look for balls in trees on the left.

5. Fail to find either ball.

6. Face prospect of walking all the way back to tee to be hitting five.

7. Decide, f*** it, write ten on card and walk to second tee.

Winners are grinners
