Old Course - Stableford

Earle was a late scratching after suffering a minor injury, which left 22 SOS players and a guest, Darren Hedley, to contest a stableford competition on the Old Course.  The weather was hot and mostly cloudless providing a good run of the ball for those proficient enough to keep it on the fairway!

This was the last day of the of compulsory wearing of masks which provided the opportunity to observe a wide variety of shapes, colours and messages. This Kookaburra wore it on its breast as there was no room for its beak!

There was an air of confidence as each player set up on the first tee! How many can relate to this graph?

There were no reports of any particular misadventures on the course as players checked in their cards and assembled for a drink or two.

At least we can now lower the mask to eat and drink!

President Brett Fordham addresses members and guest

Brett noted the SOS 2021 Annual General Meeting will follow on after play on 20 March and that members will shortly receive the Treasurers Financial Report and related material covering the business to be considered. Members will also receive an electronic copy of the SOS Golf Rules and Constitution.  These documents contain every aspect of how the committee manages the club's affairs and all members will benefit from a general knowledge of the contents of each!

Brett welcomed Darren Hedley as an ordinary member of SOS and presented him with his approved membership application! Darren plays off a 20 handicap and has been a member of the Royal Fremantle Golf Club.

Golden Hole, Eagles and Birdies

The Golden Hole jackpots again as all tee shots failed to get close enough to the flag pole.

The elusive Eagles continue to evade capture!

And only 4 birdies although there were, no doubt, many near misses!

Ash Tray

Ian Holmes won the lollies as he officially came with a score of 'zero'! In fact he scored 30 points but his efforts to have the carder reader process his card failed!
Nevertheless, Ian did a splendid job calling out the list of fines and many players donated cash to the Ash Tray fund.
A masked Ian with the lollies!

Novelties

Vice Captain Stephanie Jeffares reads out the novelties. The were plenty of contenders for the 'longest drive' but congratulations to Brett who cleaned up winning 2 of the four categories.

Post Ashtray Incident

It is most unusual for a 'blond moment' or 'lost control of equipment' incident to occur after proceeding have closed. But there was mayhem at the south end of the table when Vickie inadvertently hit the "GO" button on someone's battery powered buggy as she walked past it. The buggy proceeded to burrow its way under an unoccupied table and disappear from view. It took some time to understand what had occurred and locate the kill switch to stop the machine 's wheels from turning, and then drag it out from under the table!
Bernie, Darren and Maureen came to the rescue while Vickie looked on, unaware of what she had done.

Vickie explains to Brett !

Perhaps a fine next week for Vickie as well as the buggy owner for leaving the power switch 'on'?

Next Week

To be advised. The game is scheduled to be played on the Old course.

Vickie's Mozaic Flower Vase

Vickie's mozaic art work is well know to many members. Her latest creation includes a blue tailed bird and a gecko!
