SOS Golf: Club Championship

A total of 26 members and one guest, Jonathon, lined up for the 1st of 7 Club Championship rounds; the last round being played on 24 August.

The stroke competition was sure to result in many low scores with a much welcomed 9.00 am start combined with sublime weather comditions - warm temperatures, light breeze and cloudless skies !

Hot chips a-plenty as the post game meeting gets underway.

SOS President Tony Gooch welcomed all present and congratulated Glenn 'Pug Dog' Kelly who celebrates his 62nd birthday today! Birthday celebrations also for Shelley on Tuesday, as well as Gemma and Maureen, both on Thursday!

Tony reminded everyone that a SOS Breakfast has been organised at Lot Six Zero, Innaloo, on Sunday next week, 28 April, commencing at 8.30 am.

Glen Pope has been a great supporter of SOS over the years and it would be great to see everyone there to enjoy the good food and company!

Those wishing to attend should notify me so numbers can be firmed up.

Tony observed there were a large number of trophies on the tables and thanked Andrea for organising for them to be engraved with the names of recent winners.

Thanks were offered to almost everyone for paying their booking fees into the new Westpac Bookings account. The changeover from ANZ to Westpac has gone smoothly and the ANZ accounts will be closed this coming week.

Tony noted next week's stableford competition will be held on the Tuart Course with a start time of 9.08am.

Andrea read out the results and announced Maureen as the winner with a splendid net 69.

Four strokes further back, Mark Wilson came 2nd with a net sore of 73, while Gerry Tessier scored 74 in 3rd place!

Really not a very good result with only Maureen, who's score included 8 pars ~~birdies~~, scoring below their handicap!

The womens longest drive on hole 10 was claimed by Lynley, before Shelley did better!

NTP on the 6th hole had Popey's name, followed by Lynley, then Shelley!

NTP in 2 on the 15th was won by Mark W who outplayed Gary.

The men's longest drive on the 3rd hole was a bit confusing as Gary claimed the initial post followed by 'Vickie by a mile' and then 'Snowy (Jonathon)'. In the above photo perhaps Barry is claiming the prize on behalf of guest Jonathon!

The Golden Hole on the 16th, worth just $26, went unclaimed notwithstanding Earle's protestations that his ball was close enough. However, after re-measurement, the ball was deemed to be at least 5mm too far from the hole!
