Stableford 29.01.2022

Nah, won't talk again about the weather, but it was hot AGAIN. So we got ready for yet another challenge.
Carol puts on her sun protection arm sleeves...they look baggy, did she choose the wrong washing program?

While Goochy prays to the gods of golf

Others are carefully choosing the ballmarker of the day.

The usual suspects were seen drinking tea and coffee....

....hugging and laughing.....

and probably discussing the golf strategies of the day.

Someone not happy with the placement of the black tees? We won't unveil the player who knocked the teebox marker over.

The groups got to the tees, ready for the group photos. Groups 1-3 were documented....sadly no one bothered to take photos of groups 4-6. 🙈

No, we don't do that!!

So what happened on the course? Here today's results:

And the novelties:

Carol showing off her win for the longest drive. Well done Carol 👏👏

Any dramas on the course? YES!

The battery of Hilly's electric buggy wasn't charged properly and it ran out of power. Eh, nope; removing the wheel didn't improve its condition.

Gary came to save Hilly's day

        until OUPS

Gary anyway had to fight his own battles...strong wind against umbrella! Gary won. 😃

Is this Yoga forward bend or easter egg hunt? It's Barry searching for his golf ball.

Earle reported a couple of small dramas from his group.

-- Vickie sneezed while Goochy was about to put and so he missed the unmissable.
-- Goochy hitting a safe and short (😂) wood3 drive on hole #8, then Earle told him that this hole is the men longest drive. Cheeky cheeky Earle.

Steph wasn't feeling well, she stopped playing after hole 13. Was it the heat? Hope you're feeling better soon 💗.

Hands up and admit you're doing it.

Back in the clubhouse:

                                                Vickie and Earle looking happy

                                                Goochy, Keith and Barry re-hydrating

Birgit is looking like she's done a marathon.

Shelley #2 "won" today's lollies and dutifully shouted out the fines.

Goochy and Popey dutifully offered their help as fine collectors. They don't look fierce enough though.

Last but not least, the winner's podium, captain Gerry filling in for Mark Smith who left before he collecting his voucher.

The last ones lingering for yet another beer or cider. Yup! those well-known faces.

Last drama of the day:
Birgit's phone disappeared. After a frantic search throughout the clubhouse Gerry called her number and who answered? Goochy 😆...yup he had pocketed it by mistake, was already home, and had to return to the clubhouse.

Presidents announcement:

 - Brett reminded the members that THIS COMING Thursday we are having the Par 3 competition at Lake Claremont Golf Course.
- no birthdays
- A few players are still struggling with the new tee boxes. This will be sorted out in the coming weeks.

Captains corner:

1) Rules reminder:

2) Update on the next games

3) Explanation of the funny games

Lone Ranger/Yellow ball

It's a team game and works with 4 players per team.

Each team gets a yellow ball, On hole 1, player A plays with the yellow ball. The team score on each hole is the Stableford score of the yellow ball plus the lowest Stableford score of the remaining team members.

On hole #2 player B plays with the yellow ball, same scoring, the yellow ball Stableford score plus the  lowest stableford score of the other players in the team, and so on for the 18 holes.

It means we all play usual stableford with cards submitted to Golflink and a separate scorecard for the team

Remember that hole 4+5 of the OLD course are closed on 12.02 and 19.02. hence we play CRAZY golf.

Divorce Stableford:

Team of 2 where both Stableford points are multiplied.
