Club Championship Round 2

A beautiful autumn day greeted the 23 SOS players intent on producing a low score for the 2nd round of the Club Championship.

Lynne out to celebrate her birthday!

A fair bit of cloud, but it warmed up enough to take off jackets & jumpers early on the front 9.

Kerry, Dave and Ian
Medium caffeine shots all round!

Two new visitors, Alana Birch and Phil Wear, were welcomed to the round and, somehow, I did not manage to record their gross scores. Nevertheless, I hope they thoroughly enjoyed the game and plan to return.

All smiling like winners?
The Kookaburra was back . . . and Paul in pursuit 🎯

The round is understood to have gone off without serious mishap for the group however, there were reports of balls finding their way into places of great inconvenience!  Vickie, in particular, was particularly 'snookered' as shown in the pictures below! I hope she took an 'unplayable' and cut her losses than try to extricate the ball with a fairway wood!

The ball was unplayable, I assume!

Perhaps not, or is Vickie being cautious?
There may be a snake down there as well !

A few hiccups are being experienced trying to remember what it was like before the suspension of play. The 17th hole novelties marker was apparently left on the green but, fortunately, there was only one contender who was easily identified.

Then there was a minor delay in retrieving the SOS score sheet results from the Pro shop when 'The Cloud' collapsed as the blogger was trying to feed his and Don's cards into the reader!  The system revived itself within ten minutes and the results sheet produced. However, in my haste to get to Perry Lakes, it never occurred to me that I should have also asked for the Gift Vouchers from the Pro Shop staff who, it seems, were as ill prepared as I was.

President Brett welcomes everyone to the

The Results

For two weeks in a row, 1st place goes to Derek Longhurst for another formidable display of consistency, last week on the Tuart course and now on the Old Course!  Derek completed the round in a net 66 strokes, 5 strokes better than his 71 on the Tuart last week!

Club Captain Gary congratulates Derek on his 1st place !

For 2nd place, and only one stroke behind, came Paul on 67.

Anthony James secured 3rd place on 68.

While Steph just missed out on the prizes by coming 4th on 69.

A tight contest for the top 4!

The Raffle

Much anticipation as those wooden balls did their rotations . . . a couple of 'not out's . . . before Fran claimed the 1st prize and $10.

Fran pockets the $10 raffle prize

Happy Days 🏆

Birthdays

Congratulations to Lynne whose birthday it was today!!

BBQ Next Week at Tony's place

Tony James has kindly invited us to a BBQ / Sizzle at his house after the game next Saturday.
Please bring a folding chair if you wish to sit! There will be a few, but not enough for everyone.

The address is:  111 Lissadell Street, Floreat  . . . . . proceed down The Boulevard, past the Floreat Forum, and take the 3rd street on the right, which is Lissadell.  Too easy 🏁

Winter Rules
Club Captain, Gary, reminded us that Winter Rules now apply when playing at Wembley. Balls in play on the fairway, or bunkers, can be replaced within 30 cms without penalty.

Lynne gets a 2nd division raffle prize  🎉

Next Week

On Saturday 13th June, the 2nd Round of the Match Play Competition will take place on the Old Course.     The current forecast is for rain!

Thought for the week . . .
