Stableford

Bit of a hot one, but in the SOS tradition, we bravely carried on, commenting something along the lines of "It wasn't too bad, really."

Being a bit of a Pom, Tom manages to get the zinc and sun cream confused

Looking pretty cool in patriotic pants

And many thanks to Frances who put her foot to the floor to bring the novelties along after I'd left them at home this morning. (You know that strange feeling - I feel like I've left something important behind, but I seem to have everything - clubs, hat, banana, water bottle, wallet, phone...what else could there be?)

Don't worry, I've got them

No birthdays this week, but a bit of good news. The committee have decided to absorb the increase in green fees, so games will continue to cost $42.

Now the bad news - annual fees are due, and should be paid within two weeks for you to remain a financial member. Fees are $100, and can be given to Shelley, or paid online to the same account which you were directed to to pay for the annual dinner.

If you can't remember the account details, Shelley will be sending them out again later in the week.

And some more good news, there will be an Australia Day barbecue on the day after Australia Day, ie on the 27th.

A reminder of what happens when your ball goes in the water:

If you hit your ball into a water hazard, you may play the ball as it lies without grounding your club or:

1. play another ball at the spot from which the original ball was last played, taking a one stroke penalty; or
2. drop a ball behind the water hazard keeping the point where your ball last crossed the margin of the hazard in line with the hole and the spot where you drop the ball. There is again a one stroke penalty; or
3. If the hazard is marked with red stakes, you may also drop a ball outside the water hazard within two club-lengths of and not nearer the hole than where it last crossed the margin of the hazard, or at a point on the opposite side of the margin.

There isn't really anywhere at Wembley where you'd have much chance of playing it where it lies, and there aren't any lateral water hazards, so point 3 doesn't apply either. But remember on the ninth hole on the Tuart, if you go in the water, you don't have to play again from the teeing ground, you can drop behind the hazard as point 2, which would usually be a better option.

And here's another reminder about etiquette:

The novelties? Ah yes, a bit of confusion here, but the results that passed scrutiny are as follows:
