STABLEFORD

Stableford on the Tuart.

Playing with my favourite partners!

A delightful 29 degrees, with a gentle breeze and fluffy white clouds.

Gary practising with the Puttermatic

What could possibly go wrong?

Dave well and truly plugged on the 7th

Quite a bit, according to the results, but we’ll come to that later.

Gerry searching high and low

We set off with hope in our hearts and with the belief that perhaps today would be the day.

Dave Millar in trouble on the 10th

The day when the pars would proliferate like umbrellas on a rainy day.

While the birdies would  accumulate like eggs at Easter.

Nearest the bunker, Gary?

Unfortunately, for most of us, that wasn’t the case.

There were the usual runs of bits of bovver,

Helping Coops find his ball

And a couple of sartorial excesses.

A big field, augmented by the Williams from Wales

And new members Alex and David.

Dave and Karl both enjoying a bit of bunker fun on the 7th

Mark Wilson claimed a twisted back, extracting Isobel from the car seat. However, Trish and he are doing their bit to ensure the continued future of SOS - a second sprog is on the way, this time of male persuasion, and he will be investing in sets of junior clubs soonest.

Roland going full yellow - what's going on here?

There were anniversaires - Kerry on March 30, Colin on April 3 and Paul Boquest on April 4. If you didn’t get them cards, it’s too late now. Accept our belated congratulations.

Ah, so that's it. Roland's masquerading as a pollinator.

I always wanted to bee somebody!

Some serious pollinating to be done here

Paul Gardner apparently managed just two hours sleep on Friday night. If ever there was a reasonable excuse for a poor score that would seem to be it. However, note the scores below.

All looking for Mark Smith's ball

The annual SOS hosting of the WABGA (Blind Golfers Association) will be on May 10th, and will be accompanied by a sausage sizzle. More details will follow.

It was here all the time

So, the novelties.

The Golden Hole on the 3rd was unclaimed (although many came close)

Nearest to the pin in 2 on the 7th went to Goochy. (The drive was to the edge of the green, and the putt wasn’t very far from an eagle - a tap in birdie)

And he parred it from here

Men's longest drive on the 9th, Paul Boquest hit a monster drive off the tee, Paul Gardner got even further, but Mark Wilson had the last laugh here.

Gardy sneaks one past Paul

Nearest in 3 on the 14th had Paul Boquest with a magnificent second shot to within a couple of feet of the pin, and no-one got closer.

Dave in more trouble on the 16th

The women’s longest drive on the 17th had the second group all failing to stay on the fairway, leaving Lynley to pick up this one without any trouble.

Lynley gets the longest

Nearest to the pin on the 18th always attracts a number of contenders. Paul B was again up on the right level just a couple of fee from the pin - looked pretty competitive until Don got closer, and then Mark Wilson dropped one close enough for a pretty simple birdie.

So, how did the birdies pan out?

Paul B on the 3rd and 18th

Frances on the 3rd

Goochy on the 7th

Gardy with 4! - The 7th, 9th, 11th and 15th.

Coops on the 2nd and 6th

Lynley on the 18th

Mark W on the 5th, 7th and 18th

Don on the 18th, and

Roland on the 7th.

Well done, those golfers.

Coops was belatedly awarded the Perry Lakes Cup, for winning last week.

Winners are grinners

And the results today:

As Andrea put it - a race to the bottom, with a number of contenders.

Couldn't find James

Paul actually managing to par the front 9 - a fantastic round on just two hours sleep! six points clear of the rest of the field.

Thanks to all our photographers this week - a great crop of pictures from Peter,

 Gerry, Kerry, Karl and Gardy.

Next week is Ladies Day - expect something unusual and please wear pink.
