LADIES DAY & THE MUGS CUP

Saturday heralded Ladies Day combined with awarding the Mugs Cup to the player with the worst score for the day, not a trophy that many want in their cabinet. It also coincided with the playing of the "Masters", whatever that is?

The weather was sensational with perfect playing conditions, and records scores were anticipated. Most players displayed some pink in their dress and some were outstanding.

Photo's following provide a good spread of the effort put in to make the day an occasion.

There was some talk among the ladies that the men hadn't put enough effort into their outfits, and I'll let you be the judge of that because there were two outstanding efforts.

Coops, for the absolute lack of effort put into his outfit, but you have to give him credit for having the courage to put that on his noggin (incidentally this will now be the "stock" photo of Coops munching on a toasted bacon and cheese sandwich for future blogs). In contrast we have the sartorial elegance of Roland, who as usual went all out after visiting Ashley & Martin for some noggin work.

Summing up the days play there was for the first time in recorded history, No Spots of Bovver. Unbelievable!!!

However to his credit he was honest enough to put "maybe" next to his name on the card. Someone who will remain nameless (that is famous for the 'Squealing Pig" introduction to the wheel of fortune) was heard to say, unbelievable an honest lawyer.

Garry will be heading overseas in early May to contest two tournaments, the first in Scotland and the second a the famous Woburn GC in the G4D tournament which is one of the 4 Majors on All Abilities golf. calendar. Garry has also climbed into the top 80 of the world rankings and therefore eligible for most tournaments. Hopefully Garry will keep us posted on the events and send some photos back for the SOSage.

Thank you to all those that sent in photos for the blog.

Next Saturday is one of the clubs premier events - The Easter Cup that celebrates its 45th playing.
First played in 1980 and won by M Patterson this events should attract some big time players, all eager to get their mitts on the trophy, provided they can get Stephanie's firm grip on it (with some assistance from superglue) off it . Don't be surprised if  a sober Coops, recovers from his odd lack of form and consistency, returns to claim the prize.

Tee Time is 8.20 on The Old
