2 Ball Aggregate

The weather forecast was ominous!  Thunderstorms and 10-15 mm of rain in the morning and afternoon, so many came prepared to be deluged!

However, apart from one or two short patches of drizzle, playing conditions were excellent and the 9.50am start was a welcome change.

The competition was played on the Old Course with 11 teams of two playing an aggregate stableford format!  Also welcomed as a guest was Shelley's grandson, James who displayed some impressive strokes so early in his golfing career!

Assembled for the start - a few clouds in the background!

Shirley, Vickie, Frances & Birgit looking smartly attired!

Fairways & Greens

No reports were received by the blog master on good, bad or indifferent play by members.  What a pity!! Everyone likes to share in our glory and misadventures.

However, Glenn Kelly thought the greens were a bit soft!

More than a few unmissable putts today!?

I can report that during the round with Paul Boquest your scribe was frequently in awe of his powerful drives & fairway irons and accurate putts! The picture below tells the story!

Paul's tee shot on the 18th zoomed over the trees and stayed where it landed!
With only 120 metres to go, his 2nd shot fell to within 2 metres of the flag which then yielded one of his two birdies for the day!

For those whose driving distances are fading as the years elapse, consider the following:

President's Address

Brett welcomed all present particularly Shelley's grandson, James; and a welcome back to Glen Pope who has survived CoVid, apparently with few symptoms!

No members birthdays to celebrate this week!

It was noted the Matchplay auction night will be coming around soon - 23rd July, and anyone wishing to sponsor a player would be most welcome! Further details will be released shortly.

The 3rd qualifying round of the match play competition will be next week and will decide the quarter finalist!.

New SOS shirts are nearly ready and those that ordered will be notified by email.

Ash Tray Collection

Shelley Yeo claimed the fines list and called for donations to the Ash Tray Fund.

Lots of lively chatter as players owned up to their indiscretions and failures!
