Australia Day Cup

Not really Australia Day yet, but we couldn't wait.

Warm?

Yep.

Perth got to 41.1 degrees at 02.05pm

So that's five days in a row over 40, and a new record.

Yay!

Were we bothered?

Nah.

Guess what? No birthdays.

No birthdays until March. Nothing for February or the rest of January.

You know what this means.

No SOS parental hanky-panky for May all those years ago.

Was it just too cold under those sheets?

You''ll be pleased to hear that Sandy bought Brett a very nice watch for his birthday.

Apparently he's happier with that than with his new wedges, which are s**t.

We were faced with an interesting choice at player registration.

Could actually choose which tee to tee off from.

Although there were "recommendations".

No more girls and boys tees. Just tees.

Made it interesting.

Didn't seem to make a big difference to the scores, though.

Golden Hole went off.

Guess who? Yep, that's right.

A couple of exceptional shots.

Mark Smith managed to fly out of the bunker on the 12th, smash into the novelties marker and bounce back into the hole.

Try doing that twice.

Birgit faced with a conundrum.

The other novelties?

NTP in three on the twelfth?

Fordy, beaten by Gerry, beaten by Pug Dog!

Not happy off the boy's tees this week

NTP in two on the sixth?

Just one name, Fordy.

NTP on the second.

Goochy, beaten by Greg.

And the longest drive? Bit of a story here. Earle, in spite of a decent drive off the tee on the seventeenth, failed to mark it.

Then Popey, in the last group, thought he'd missed picking it up, so he went back round the whole course looking for it.

And eventually we decided that it must have been Hilly's monster drive so he got the prize.

Best sledge of the day: Gerry to Pug Dog "You'll get better results on Tinder if you leave the mask on. "

Your subs are now due.

$140 to the SOS account, not Glen.

And if you haven't already registered for the Par 3 competition

$30 to Shelley, and let Derek know you're playing.

Sausage sizzle was beaut!

Special thanks to Carol and Shelley,

Keith,

Earle and Vickie

...that's a knife

Birgit

Did a great job

Next week, it's vice-captain's choice.

What's his choice - no idea at this stage.

The following week, Stableford divorced pairs. (You know, mulitply your score by your partner's on each hole. Great if you both got four. A bit miserable if one gets four and the other gets zero. No calculator required).

Oh, and the game? Top round from Boris, a clear winner.
