plus
= ??? 🤔🤔🤔
21 players registered for round two of our Winter Cup. This included 19 regulars, Kerry joining us for a social game, and Holly, Andrea's friend, who will hopefully join us as a member soon.
Some of us wondered why so few people registered for a competition that usually attracts a big crowd. Was it the weather?
If so, those missed out on a beautiful day! There were only a few drops of rain—not enough to justify opening an umbrella or putting on a rain jacket.
BEFORE THE GAME

Some are waiting impatiently for the first tee-off
Dave noting down where to pick up the novelty markers
Gerry & Dave M.
We welcome back Faye after a couple of months of absence.
DURING THE GAME
Rolie in trouble?
Who's hiding there?
It's Dave W.
2 gentlemen are looking for Kerry's ball. Taylormade 1...we found 2 of those
some ladies , Andrea?
Bad lie, but she's smiling, she got it out. Surprise!
Sometimes you prefer the ball to be IN the bunker than THERE
AFTER THE GAME
Those are some impressive stats:
- Fastest round of 18 holes: 27:09 minutes ... not sure if it was Stroke or Stableford...
- The average Perthian says it's "freezing at plus 10 degrees Celsius..
- Imagine the coldest course: Uumannaq (Greenland) at minus 45.56 degrees Celsius 🥶🥶
- They call it "World Ice Golf Championship"
- Hole # 19 in South Africa,
- other than the name suggests, no beer or wine is being served, but it's the highest (400 m) and longest (361 m) par 3 in the world, only accessible by helicopter.
- Highest score on a single hole (PGA Tour): 19 (!) ... I feel better now 😉😉😉
OK, now let's have a look at OUR stats from yesterday:
NOVELTIES:
Golden and Silver hole (3&18) are still unclaimed
NP hole # 6: Rolie, beaten by Keith
Ladies longest drive # 15: Andrea, beaten by Lynne
Men longest drive hole # 15 Peter, Boris, Gerry, beaten by Gary
Longest put hole #18: Keith, beaten by Coops
Not many BIRDIES were recorded: 😮😮😮
Gary at the 7th
Lynley at the 15th
Lynley secured first place with a fantastic score of 69, followed by Lynne and Keith.
RESULTS OF THE DAY
Attentive blog readers and participants in yesterday's after-game presentations will have noticed that my score overview differs from the one in the MiScore App.
Gary Burgess notified Captain Rolie later in the afternoon that his correct score was 75, rather than 73.
Thanks Gary for letting us know. 👍
So, how are the combined scores of rounds 1 and 2?
Did Tom, last week's winner, have another great score?
Or do we have someone else climbing up the ladder to grab the trophy?
Here are the "top dogs"
And the winner of the 2026 Winter Cup is...
Lynley, finishing with an impressive score of 146!"
Tom follows closely as the runner-up with a score of 147.
Followed by Lynne with a score of 148.
Well done, Lynley!
Unfortunately, we don't have any photos because the winner couldn't make it (it seems there was a footy game underway), and the trophy wasn't there either.
Intensive blogging research revealed that Colin was last year's winner.
Over to Rolie!
BUT, we do have a photo of Dave and the lollies:
If you come last, you at least get the lollies; come second last, there’s no sweet comfort at all
Tom is practicing the "Wheel of fortune", while Andrea supports the fine collection.
Yes, next week it'll be Derek, James and Hilly.
Have a great day and hope to see yous soon.
Last photo of the day:
The usual suspects, plus Dave W, who claims he only stayed to hand over a SOS esky to Boris 😏
Last info of the day:
Next week, we are looking forward to playing the quarter finals. At least eight of us!
The rest of the bunch is hopefully coming to play Stableford.
The weather forecast is not great, but we all know the Perth weather....there's always enough wind to blow the clouds away.
