Winter Cup Round 1 and Auction Night

A great day for golfing!  A bit on the cool side, but rain and wind were absent, leaving regular cloud cover!

The 1st of 2 rounds of the Winter Cup attracted 19 players including guest Simon Barrow. The 2nd, and deciding round, will be played next week on the Tuart Course.

And again!!

Retirement affords you plenty of time to indulge in on-line purchases!

Earle encountered several native bushes and a tree limb
while negotiating his way down the right side of the 11th fairway!
Peter's worm-burning drive off the 4th tee hit the right side
white marker and deflected to the middle of the tee!
Steph points to Peter's yellow ball.

Kerry's drive equals Roland's !

Winter Cup - Round 1 results

The result of the 1st round of the Winter Cup saw 11 players within 5 shots of Tom Munson and Gary Burgess!  Tom, Gary & Peter took out the gift card prizes.

Next week's final should be very competative.

Novelties

An possibly incomplete list of winners include:

Men's longest drive - Gerry, Boris, Gardy, Keith, won by Gary !
NP in 4 hole 11 - Rolie, won by Gardy
ladies longest drive - not recorded

It appears one of the novelty markers was left on the course and attempted are being made to retrieve it!

Gold & Silver Holes - no-one eligible to claim either, although Simon Barrow apparently made the distance but, being a non-member, was unable to claim the prize!

Next Week

The 2nd and final round of the Winter Cup will be played on the Tuart Course commencing at 10.12 am.

Gala Auction Night at Lot Six Zero

A large number of past and current members, their partners and friends turned up at Lot Six Zero, Innaloo, to enjoy a night of food, fun and serious bidding for the matchplay finalists!

Many thanks to Linsey and Glen Pope for providing the venue and to the entertainment committee comprising Frances, Birgit and Carol, who put in a lot of effort to make the night such a success!

A special thanks to Brett Fordham for taking on the role of auctioneer.  His astute pauses in the bidding process enabled bids to escalate to dizzying heights before the gavel came down.  A total of $1,490 was raised for the matchplay finalists and an additional $1,070 from the donated goods! The Truffle Hill donations were especially sought after!

The quarter finals of the matchplay competition will be played on 25 July. The semi finals on 8 August, and the finals on 22 August. Good luck to all players and sucessful bidders!

Raffle Draws

The raffle prizes comprised a wide range of donated goods  including some seriously aged bottles of scotch whisky, gin, champaigne, wine, Sutton tool items and bric-a-brak!

Several token holders had an amazing run of luck, picking up multiple items, to the detriment of others!!

The consortium of Moon and Gardy claimed mutiple prizes, so much so they ended up handing back the last half dozen or so, so they could be won by others!!
