MATCH PLAY QUARTER FINALS & STABLEFORD

 A strong field of 20 players arrived on course ahead of their tee times to contest the main event the day the  Match Play Quarter Final and for the others a Stableford  competition. They were greeted by a beautiful winters day that only the greatest place on the planet con produce. Clear skies, a coolish temperature, and a gentle chilly breeze with morning dew on greens was the state of play for the first 3 holes.  As the sun shone through and the greens dried and you couldn't ask for better gold conditions.

SPOTS OF BOVVER

Surprisingly, given the modest scores returned, there weren't too any spots of bovver, although it's possible some players didn't want to admit to them. Peter owned up to a tricky ball position on the 7th that fortunately for him was in a garden bed so he could take a free drop.

There was one exceptional spot of bovver, and a first for the SOS Group, and that was Tom and his missing golf clubs. Earlier in the week he had attended a golf clinic at Melville Glades GC, it wasn't until he turned up for Saturday's round and looked in his car to find no golf clubs. A moment of panic set in as he thought they had been stolen and in the circumstance had to hire a set for the days play. As the round progressed he realised that he had probably left them at Melville Glades and made a call to check, and to his relief they were there which meant that he had to leave soon after the presentations to collect them.

Coops featured in the next spot of bovver when he did his best to annihilate all competitors!
He hit Keiths cart, causing him to run for my life, then missing his cart partner Gerry by 30cm ... Gerry knew nothing of it ... didn't even hear the whoosh as it flew past ... he then almost caught Keith for the second time an Tom advised to stay well behind.  This is what happens when a a bacon and egg addict doesn't get his usual early morning fix!!

On Auction Nigh money raised from auctioning players provided a prize pool of $1,500 and once match play has been completed will divided as follows -  $900 to the winner, $375 to second place and $225 to third place.

THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE

The lucky first number out was Shelly followed by 

Gerry, Peter, Andrea and Maureen.

It was a sad day for Earle though with his last hope of taking something home being the Wheel of Fortune. Sadly he left with nothin.

PENALTIES

Since I last played SOS some months ago our new vice captain, Gardy,  has come up with some very unique penalties, some of which had to be censored apparently, however they added a new level of enthusiasm to encourage members to part with a few dollars for their indiscretions.

Next Saturday it's the Club Championships Round 5 with a tee off at 9.24 on The Old.


Finally I'll leave with with these. 

Firstly some of you may have seen Barnaby Joyce's interview on the 7.30 Report with Sarah Ferguson that left Barnaby a little flustered when Sarah repeatably asked  him if he supported his leader, Paul Hanson's view on migration. The worse off in the end was Barnaby's faithful dog that came in for a tongue lashing.

Now that the World Cup soccer is over for some it begs the question
