The forecast for the days play was a little bleak. A certain amount of poetic license has been adopted to illustrate this in the photo above, and this was to come in the small hours of Sunday morning as Cat 1 Cyclonic winds of 120 kph were forecast and arrived.
However a strong field of 21 players fronted up to play round 3 of the Club Championship and as the weather gathered momentum for the severe storms forecast for later in the day, and night, the rain and stormy conditions held off during play
Our newest member Kristian Brown
Everyone was appropriately dressed for the days cold conditions apart from David who was sporting a sleeveless jacket
We had two guests, Kristian Brown (who scored 86 off the stick, pretty impressive), and who was later, at the presentations approved as a Club Member, and Holly Landers who proved to be a "Dark Horse".
Play got underway at 9.16 on the infamous Tuart course with Boris striking a smiling pose on the first tee, but alas this would not hold, and he endured an agonizing round, probably best forgotten by him but not us.
A recap of some highlights of Boris' round follows. His electric buggy seemingly had a mind of it own or the remote control needed a new set of batteries. On just the second hole his buggy crashed into the bunker, and later on the 10th crashed into Lynne and Lynley's cart followed by much profanity (not from Lynne and Lynley) with Boris refusing to have these incidences photographed so instead we've had to substitute a photo of Paul Boquest's out of control electric buggy that sunk into the deep bunker on the 4th. The photographers (Wayne Bradford) shadow is captured at the bottom of the photo. You can't get away with any embarrassing moment at SOS golf!!! To Paul's credit despite a disappointing 6 on the par 3 eighteenth he hit 79 off the stick.
To make matters worse for Boris a crow took off with his banana on the 5th and he notched up a "10" for the hole. What a day!!!
Don't you just love them and we have a fine for assaulting the wildlife!!!
Shelly (Houdini) Yeo has seen a window and way out 8th!!!!
