Match Play Quarterfinals

Another magnificent day for a round of golf at Wembley. This week the Tuart Course was in play with its several water hazards, tricky par 4's and some narrow fairways.

With clear blue skies and little to no wind the 3 pairs of match play quarter-finalists had every opportunity to demonstrate their best game however, as we know, golf play is a fickle business! The remaining pair, comprising Shelley Yeo and Andrew Crevald, will play their match at a later date.

That left the remaining 17 players to enjoy a round of stableford!

The match-players have already teed off leaving
Frances, Greg, Colin, Paul & Andrea at the first tee!

Mind games were inevitably clouding ones judgement at critical points of the match!

Did everyone get in enough practice before the start?

Paul and Keith looking relaxed as they wait on the 3rd tee with Mark Macnish.
Bernie, the 4th member of this group, was teeing off on the white markers!

Gerry's tee shot on the 2nd found its way underneath
a pile of broken branches which took some time to clear!

Andrea takes a pic of Nuria attempting to redirect
her ball from the base of a tree!

The 18th hole with group 2 putting out.
Only 91 metres from the green markers with many, either on purpose
or inadvertently, sneaking their ball past the safe side of the left hand sand bunker!

Hot chips were much welcomed!

Gim and Shelley were last in and made do with the rear table!

President's Message

SOS President, Tony Gooch, welcomed members present and congratulated those with birthdays to celebrate this week!

President, Tony Gooch, wishes Derek a happy birthday for tomorrow
and also to Richard Osborne and Mark Hill for later in the week!

Tony also referred to the email received by SOS members this week from Glen's daughter, Kelly, concerning the tragic loss of their newborn son, Charlie, to a genetic disease and their desire to raise funds for research for preventing birth defects and genetic disease in children. The SOS committee believes the raising of funds for the cause, to be donated to the Children’s Medical Research Institute for research into kids born with a birth defect or a genetic disease, to be something the SOS Group can support. The Club Captain, Gerry Tessier, has outlined the fundraising procedure in 'Captain's Corner' toward the end of this blog.

Captains Corner

Raising Funds for Charlie Big Heart - Kelly & Family (Glen's daughter)

We all have received Kelly’s message about raising funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute for research into kids born with a birth defect or a genetic disease.  The SOS committee in the name of all SOS group members would like to support the cause so, as of next week, for the next 4 weeks, all Ash Tray fines and also the chips budget will go to the cause and SOS will match the total amount up to a ceiling of $250.

We count on all of you to be generous for the fines and to support it …and if some one wants to buy the chips …you are going to be VERY popular as well !
