Just a wonderful day on a beautiful course |
The fourth round of the Club Championship. There’ll be seven rounds in all, your final score will be the sum of your best five scores out of the seven, or the sum of the scores for the number of rounds that you have played should you only play less than five. And the Club Champion will be the person with the best gross score, but there’ll be prizes for the best nett scores in A grade and B grade, and that will be determined.....oh, never mind.

It was a very nice day. As close to perfect as it can get on a golf course. We welcomed Keith back from the UK, having only arrived on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately his email still doesn’t work properly. He’d welcome a bit of technical support from anyone who knows that stuff.
. |
The president thanked everyone for their efforts in cleaning up after the International Night - it had indeed been a lot of fun.

Next week is the first knockout round of the Match Play competition. Billed as a semi-final, they are of course, quarter finals, but no matter. The first two groups will be filled by these competitors.
Gerry will be the referee, and his decision will be unerringly final. He will also make the handicaps known on the Saturday morning. Competitors will take a manual card, and an all square result after the eighteenth hole will be determined by playing off again (and again if necessary) on the eighteenth. Other players are asked to prioritise such play-offs.
. |
Everyone else will play a Stableford competition. There will, of course, be prizes as usual.
. |
The novelties will be available to all.
Gim has a STUD from the tee box |
We congratulated Steph and Bernie for their impressive result at Dongara, and we were pleased to note that on unlike one of their previous out of town excursions, this time they were not scolded for making too much noise and talking.
Group One ready for the off |
The novelties:
Nearest the pin on the second - the first three groups struggled to even get a ball on the green. Paul Cooper dropped one on from the fourth group, but was beaten by Mark Wilson on one of the last drives of the day.
. |
Nearest the pin in two on the tenth - always a nice approach on this hole, very reachable for everyone. Peter the first to get on the marker, followed by Gardy, Don got even closer but Keith got inside that. Not to be outdone, Pugsy from the same group snuck inside Keith’s to take the prize.
Barry puts it all on the three's - obviously the way to go.
. |
Nearest in three on the fifth - a tough one? Not so. It may be a high index hole, but Andrea got to the green in three, only to be outdone by Gary who put it in the hole. Amazing? Not to be outdone, Gordon also put it in the hole, to make it two birdies on this very challenging green.
. |
The ladies’ longest drive on the eighth - In the first group, Frances put it straight down the middle, only to be bested by Andrea from the same group. And that’s how it stayed.
. |
The men’s longest drive on the seventeenth - another lovely straight fairway, Gardy got his name on the maker first, apparently wasn’t the greatest drive, but no-one managed to better it until Steph, self-identifying as a bloke, passed it from the last group. Just to bring a little normalcy back to the proceedings, Gary snuck one past both of them to pick up the prize. (Except he didn’t, he’d left by then, so he’ll pick it up next week.)
Having a great day! |
There were half a dozen birdies this week, two of them by Peter Baird, who chipped in from 10, 20, 30, 40 (depends who you ask) metres on the ninth, then added a second with a four on the seventeenth. Pugsy tidied up on the sixth and the eleventh, Gardy and Gordon on the fifth, and Mark Wilson the second.
. |
Something to celebrate. An Eagle's behind, perhaps? |
The final results: a remarkable change in form for Peter, who you’ll remember, picked up the lollies last week with a very disappointing 87! Whatever he’s having, we’d all like some, please.
Congratulations! |
