This was it.
The one day of the year you can win two trophies for the price of one.
And whilst the weather forecast put one or two golfers off
Most of us lasted for the full eighteen holes.
It takes more than a forty degree forecast to put us off.
Officially, it got to 40.0C at 1.43pm - we were pretty much finished by then.
Earle regaled us with tales of his bunker fun on the 6th. Drive into the bunker on the left, out into the bunker on the right, back out into the bunker on the left, out of that into the bunker on the right.
Makes sense?
A reminder from Shelley - if you're coming to the Annual Dinner (and why wouldn't you be?), please either bring cash next Saturday, or pay by bank transfer into the SOS account.
Today, there were no novelties, due to an error. To compensate, Shelley added extra golf balls to the raffle and gave a free raffle ticket to everyone. Greg made the most of the opportunity.
Dave invested big in raffle prize futures, and reaped the reward. A man who recognises good odds when he sees them.
So, another great round from Glen, who has been putting some very good scores together recently. A hard man to beat.
And a very creditable round from Tony for second place, on countback.
The Golden Hole jackpots again - not quite up to the proceeds on the Old |Course, but still worth winning

Anyone bring a truck? It's these or the clubs in the boot, not both. |

Hitting them straight and long.. |
I want to know what the guy dressed as a Snickers bar was doing there
Meanwhile, our resident Poet Laureate has come up with this magnificent verse. It is currently being set to music, and will no doubt be premiered at the Annual Dinner.
SOS Golf Club
SOS Golf Club have a Saturday meet
First 30 minutes for a practice and greet
Who am I drawn with, how will I play
Practice went well could this be my day
First drive is perfect, straight and true
Middle of fairway, now follow through
Second shot woeful, deep in the rough
Getting ball out is going to be tough
Finally on green, sitting just fine
One putt hurray, but still took nine!
Rest of the game a very mixed lot
Flashes of brilliance, the rest not so hot
Eighteenth hole, oh what a drive
It’s that feeling you get that keeps golf alive
Finish with Par is inconceivable
Chip in for birdie that’s unbelievable!
Now to the members that make up the club
The consistent attendees, the central hub
We have the big hitters
We have the bull shitters
We have holes in one
We play in the sun
And last but not least our hard working committee
Shelley our Treasurer, who looks after the kitty
Glen, booking officer that makes up the draw
Kerry our Captain, who checks every score
John, Vice Captain our novelty maker
Derek, President, photograph taker
Steph and helpers, entertainment team
Weekly golf, sunshine we’re living the dream
Author: Kerry Gardner
Next week, Stableford on the Tuart.
