The 2nd round of the SOS Club Championship was held on the Old Course in ideal conditions - mild temperatures, a bit of cloud cover, little to no wind and 24 SOS members and 3 guests - Zac, Carl & Trevor - took to the fairways and greens in good spirits!
It appears no-one took any pictures of the start and the blogger, who arrived close to start time and was too preoccupied in handing over last week's 💰 $87 Golden Hole prize to Paul Boquest, forgot to take any!
However, several photos were received of players in various types of distress!
It appears Bernie's drive off the 1st tee resulted in her ball becoming snookered for the next shot around the dog's-leg! Peter's ball from the 1st barely made it past the white tees, although it managed to reach a height of over a 100m or so!
While Glen P goes trespassing on the adjacent fairway in search of his ball!!

That is apparently Glen P in the mist! |
|
Putting practice is never wasted! |
Trevor found an unplayable lie close to the 10th green
Paul G contributed a picture of the standard of player safety signage at the Carramar Golf Course!
After players holed out on the 18th it was off to the
Perry Lakes Sausage Sizzle ('SS') - after having your card scanned in the Pro Shop.
All remembered to do this except for Peter who was so preoccupied with analysing his 74 net score, he clean forgot to scan his card; which he corrected after the SS.
Why do 90% of my putts pass under the hole?
The Perry Lakes Sausage Sizzle
As Earle Scarff, Keith Barrow and helpers completed the BBQ of snags and chopped onions the lunch got underway accompanied by a large tossed salad and a metre long platter of water melon and rock melon slices!
|
Bernie and Keith raise their glasses as Frances tosses the salad in the background!

|
Plenty of time to savor the drinks before lunch |

Billy the Kid watches patiently as Paul B serves himself. |

Andrea just checked the results and noticed Peter had been delinquent in scanning his card!

SOS Captain Andrea opens the post game meeting by advising there were no birthdays to be celebrated by members this week.

Andrea declared the order of business will start with the raffle, followed by the results, with the Ash Tray collection being last!
Novelty Results
The Golden Hole on the 13th, worth 💰 $51, was won by Colin Kerr, playing in the last group!
NTP on the 6th had a near record 6 claimants - first by Keith followed by Lynley, Puggy, Shelley, Mark W and the winner Popey!
NTP on the 14th was claimed by Lynne M, but outplayed by guest Carl Naake! However, Group 5 found this marker on the 12th green, not the 14th, making their claims inelligible!! SOS Captain Andrea quickly recified the issue by rushing over to the 14th tee where Group 3 had just teed off and handed them the marker! Gary, who was a player in Group 3, was the only one to record a NTP in 2 on the 14th!
NTP in 3 on the 17th - only one name - Mark Wilson.
LD Women #3 - Lynne Malone
LD Men #15 - Keith, Garry and the winner Paul Boquest
Raffle
The raffle was experty conducted by none other than Glenn 'Pug Dog' Kelly who called out the lucky numbers in his normal stentorian fashion!
The winner received an IOU for a $20 gift voucher from our sponsor, Lot Six Zero! Regretably, the blogger did not record the winners name, but will update the blog when someone can advise who it was.

The Results
Andrea advised that the most honest player, with the lowest score, was Dave Williamson who received the honor of receiving a bag of lollies and the list of fines to call out!
At the other end of the scale, and winner of the days competition is Paul Boquest with a tidy net 71 points.
This was followed by no less than 5 members all on 72 points!
However, on a countback, Gim Ong secured 2nd place and Frances Longhurst 3rd.
Yet another glitch in this week's blog has resulted in only the first 8 places being published! However, Andrea saved the day by providing the missing data:

Andrea continues with the results . . can anyone lip read? |
|
Billy the Kid watches closely for falling crumbs as today's winner looks on!. |
The Ash Tray Collection
Pugdog read out the list of fines while Dave and Andrea colllected the donations.
A total of
$36.25 was raised indicating a relatively high number of transgressions.
|
Members attempt to recall all their less glorious moments on the course. |
|
Shelley and several others decried the behaviour of others and managed to get a few more coins added to the pile of donations! |
|
Amongst the late fines was the 'broken club head' award! |
After a bit of photo editing, we can now see Stephanies' broken club head more clearly!
New shafts came in a range of $100 to $1,000+, excluding a grip! Was the shot worth the damage - or did it snap in a moment of uncontrollable rage? Who has the story?
The 2nd Round of the Matchplay Competition will be held on the Old Course commencing at 9.24am.
There are a total of 3 matchplay qualifying rounds, the last on 15 June, before the 8 quarter finalists are selected to play on 20 July.
So, if you lost in Round 1, now is the perfect time to make a comeback in rounds 2 and 3 !! Historically, very few first round winners make it a clean sweep, giving you a chance to make the quarterfinals!!
