Are those SOS golfers crazy?
Yes 19 of them were yesterday, as they played the not so well liked PAR competition on the Tuart in scorching temperatures.
A small reminder: PAR is when you collect plusses, minusses and squares, the low handicappers need to score birdies for a good result, but at the end we just strive to get to hole No. 19 and enjoy a cold beer, cider or wine. Righto?

BEFORE THE GAME
Most of us got comfy in an electric cart, but
those brave 4 musketeers preferred to walk. Good on youse James, Paul, Glen & Gordon |
What are the 5's? Slip, slop, slap, slide, shade ... well done Gary |
preparation starts at home, not that that will ensure a good score, but it helps |
getting creative when there are not enough holes on the practice putting |
Golf is easy |
Boris always starts his round cleaning his balls |
Birgit photo bombing Mick & Andrea |
Mark W and Andrea |
and the fun begins |
Peter on hole No 1 |
DURING THE GAME
hole 3 Gerry wacked his ball into the bush |
a quick check of the surroundings |
and chipped it out onto the fairway |
hole 4 Mick's makes the impossible possible by placing his ball accurately between 2 Xanthorrhoeas, now considering his next move |
while the photographer on the other side takes yet another selfie |
vice captain Andrea comes to his rescue |
Mick declares it unplayable and places it in 2 club lengths into the playable rough |
hole 14 is tricky, but the vegetation is noice |
view from 16 to 15, group 3 just escaped the watering of green 15 |
We made it without divorce! A day in the cart with the captain can be challenging. |
AFTER THE GAME
just some random SOS-lers |
Keith finalizing his scorecard last minute |
Captain Gerry reading the scores |
Mick helping Vicki collecting the fines |
Earle accused Vicky for his windy, but he pays nonetheless |
Carol didn't play, but is back at the wheel of hope AKA SOS raffle |
Vice-Captain Andrea won with +3 sending Gordon (+3) to the 2nd place while Barry became third with +1.
Andrea had +3 in the back 9 and Gordon +1 hence Andrea's win.
** If you're interested to see the results of each player they are downloadable from MiScore.**
winner Andrea |
Boris, the collector of giftcards |
Any blond moments on the course?
- James made a spectacle of himself searching his sunnies everywhere, while they were found back safely on his head
- Birgit was seen on the green holding the flag for Andrea while she forgot to have her putter ready

FIXTURE CHANGE
- Captain's choice (20.01) is being moved to March 10 due to Gerry's OVS travel this week
- there will be an easygoing stableford comp on the 20th
- who can guess what the captain's choice will be? yup! Canadian Foursome
REMINDER 1
- We had a couple of close hit up in the last couple of weeks, luckily no one was hurt or hit. Just a reminder especially to the long hitters to be remindful of the guys in front of you
REMINDER 2
- play READY GOLF, to AVOID SLOW PLAY
In addition to the above at Stableford & Par comps
- pick up your ball when you cannot score anymore, especially when the group behind you is waiting
there is no difference between men & women when it comes to slow play, the above is just a misogynistic example |
THE END and it was still stinking hot
