Masters Trophy & Stableford on Tuart

A diminished field, comprising 19 of SOS's hardiest fronted up for the Masters Trophy (11 players), open to members who have won a 36 hole Cup event or the Match Play competition in any fixture year, and 8 non qualifiers who tagged along playing stableford.

As the weather forecast predicted, it was very hot and very windy!  The temperature climbed to 37°c while wind gusts up to 60kph or more inverted umbrellas and steered balls in directions not anticipated by high ball players!

Glen, Andrea, Gerry, Keith & Carol cast long shadows at 7.20am
as they assemble at the 1st tee!

Earle and Barry gloved up & ready to play.

Nuria sensibly opts for a cart.

Group 3 on the 3rd hole with Earle holding the Golden Hole marker!
Was it close enough and did anyone get closer?

There were no photos or anecdotes received by the blogger; perhaps players were conserving their energy to channel towards the next stroke?

However, there was plently of ball searching which tended to hold up play!

SOS President, Tony Gooch opened the post match revelries noting the Annual SOS Dinner and Trophy Presentation event was currently in the final planning stages and an email would be sent to members in the next few days seeking numbers for members and guests and providing details of venue, timing etc..

Paul Cooper celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, 1st November and Peter will do so on Monday, 6th November.
The meeting about to get underway!

STABLEFORD RESULTS

The official printout had someone called Peter Padley winning the stableford competition however, after a quick check on the membership list, it seems a member of another club hit the wrong button when checking in.

The SOS stableford winner was again Keith Barrow with Tony Gooch one shot more in 2nd and Greg Bennett claiming 3rd place!

GOLDEN HOLE

And the Golden Hole winner was Earle Scarff who carried off the $81 pot!

When asked what club he used, Earle admitted it was a miss-hit!!
Some miss-hit!

Carol, assisted by Keith, call out the raffle numbers

And the raffle winner, and recipient of a Lot Six Zero $20 gift voucher, was Nuria!

The Ash Tray fines list caller award (lowest score) went to Nuria who at least went home with a useful prize - a bag of lollies!

However, Shelley Yeo called out the fines list after making everyone aware this is week 1 of the Diggers Kings Park Memorial Drive fund raiser - with a Diggers inspired list of fine categories.
Members, inspired by the cause, donated a nice sum of $44.95!

Next Week

The Diggers Trophy will be contested nest week on the Tuart Course, starting at 7.56am.
Cooler weather is forecast!
