Diggers Cup - Tuart

On the 11th day of the 11th month, the competition was fittingly for the Diggers Cup!

Twenty-two players participated in the par competition on the Tuart Course including guest, James Axson. Numbers might have been higher had not some of SOS's best not been having a round or two in the goldfields!

It was warmish and the wind, while not as fierce as last week, was incessant and created misery for many players!

Assembling at the 1st tee.

Mark W's ball is too close to the tree!
Problem solved if he was a left hander!

There a 3 balls in the greenside bunker on the 7th hole!
Goochy tries first, followed by Damien, then Peter.

In the video below, Goochy shows how to lift the ball short & high . . . . to within unmissable putting range of the hole!

SOS President Tony Gooch got the ball rolling, so to speak, by advising details of the SOS annual dinner which will be held at the Lot Six Zero eatery & expresso bar, Innaloo on Saturday, 25 November, commencing at 6.00pm.

The Annual Dinner & Presentation Night is always a highly entertaining evening with speaches, trophy presentations, good food & drinks! Members partners are encouraged to attend. Further details will be circulated shortly.

There were 3 birthdays celebrated this week - Mark W for yesterday, 10 November. With both Birgit & Andrew today, 11 November. Congratulations to you all!

The Results

SOS Captain, Gerry Tessier ready to announce the results of the Diggers Cup
par competition, with Carol, Paul B and Karl at the top of the table!

Firstly, in last place on minus 11 points was SOS President Tony Gooch, who's lofty ball strikes were frequently redirected by the wind deep into the undergrowth!

At the other end of the list, Glen Pope was announced the winner of the Diggers Cup with a score of +2.

No less than 3 players vied for the minor placings on +1, with Keith Barrow claiming 2nd place and Paul Boquest claiming 3rd placePaul Cooper, also on +1 came 4th.

with Keith Barrow 2nd & Paul Boquest 3rd

Keen eyed members will, no doubt, have immediately realised that Glen is not holding the Diggers Cup!  Apparently the Diggers Trophy was still in the boot of Glen's car and there was not enough time to retrieve it for the presentation!

Eagles & Birdies

There were no Eagles reported however, given the conditions, 8 birdies is not a bad haul.

Congratulations to Paul B, Brett & Mark W for scoring two each!
