American Foursome on Tuart

A beautiful autumn day, sunshine, white clouds and little to no wind!  A total of 24 players including 2 guests, Mr & Mrs Williams, assembled to play a game of American Foursome on the Tuart Course, which was still recovering from recent coring to the green and tees. The 12 paired teams started at a very reasonable 8.52am!

Meanwhile, the green keepers, presumably to help us all celebrate April Fools Day, had placed each of the 18 pin holes in the most fiendishly difficult locations on the greens. Many shots at holing out failed as gravity saw many balls gather pace as they slipped past the hole only to continue for metres down a slope; some even rolling off the green!!

Frances and Greg were teamed up!

Dave, Ian, Glenn & Shelley

We were warned ! !

Shelley closes in on the 12th pin hole as Stephanie and Brett observe!
Even the coloured flags were no indication as to front, middle or back of green.

The difficult pin placements required additional factors to be considered!

Shelley's ball is buried in a decaying grass tree, leaving
Peter no option other than to pick up!

There are over 50 ducks on and around the 18th green as the last SOS group closes in on the final pin!
Tony is in the sand trap having to play Barry's ball as Barry (squatting on the left) and Kerry and Gary on right watch on!

Idle chat as Gerry waits for final pairs to arrive.

A moment of silence as Derek psych's out the raffle balls?!

Looking a little weary at the end of the round?

SOS Captain announces the last placegetters as he prepares to throw
the bag of lollies to Mr & Mrs Williams!!

Gerry delivers the bag of lollies and explains the SOS custom
of awarding a bag of lollies to the last placed getters.

And the winning pair are . . . . .

Tony Gooch & Barry Treak

In fact, Boris won the raffle !!
