Stableford on Old Course

Another magnificent day for golfers at Wembley!  High 20's, not much cloud and a bit of wind which became stronger toward midday! Certainly a day to closely monitor your liquid intake!

The anticipation of the post game Christmas drinks spurred players to keep up the pace!

Only 20 players registered for the stableford competition on the Old Course, which included guest Paul Gardner!

No reports received!  The blogger is always pleased to receive stories and / or pictures of members in distress, playing awkward shots, chasing their runaway equipment, or playing their 2nd shot between the green & white markers.

Presidents Address

Brett Fordham opens post game meeting!

SOS Club President, Brett Fordham, welcomed those present to the SOS 2022 Christmas post game function, including the renowned 'Secret Santa' lucky dip!  Brett noted the venue had been changed at the last minute to our regular haunt at Perry Lakes, as Barry Treak, who was to have hosted the event with Jenny,  had just tested positive to COVID!  Get well soon, Barry!

Social organiser, Carol Barrow, had the change of venue quickly sorted out and, with assistance from Shelley and others, produced a sumptuous meal for members and guests!

Cellar master, Earle Scarf, produced some well chilled wines, beers and other refreshing drinks for the thirsty horde!

And the winner was Don Beasley, on 39 points, with Shelley Yeo coming 2nd on a countback!

Lynne Malone came 3rd with 37 points on a 3 way countback from Mark Wilson & Gim Ong!!

The Secret Santa Grab!

Brett climbs onto the table seat to announce how the draw of the Secret Santa presents will be conducted!

The Secret Santa prize draw is overseen by Gerry 'Santa' Tessier!

First to draw was Lynne who selected the largest boxed gift, only to discover it was a stuffed Christmas bear in a plastic tub!

There was much swapping of gifts as members and guests selected their gifts from the oversized Santa Bags! No one gift appeared to stand out, although the vivid blue water bottle had a number of temporary owners!
