Anniversary Cup on Old

The first day of summer produced some strange meteorological phenomena. For the first several hours there was a haze in the air so you could barely see the city landscape from the driving range, as well as widespread low level cloud. This made it challenging to track balls in the air! Apparently the fog was a result of bushfire smoke which slowly dissipated after a number of holes!

The Anniversary Cup was a stroke competition on the Old Course and was contested by 24 members and guests Kerry and Paul Gardner.

Kerry is heading back to the UK later today, so we wish her a memorable round of golf and bon voyage!

Club President Brett Fordham with
Club Captain Gerry Tessier, prepare for the round

On the Fairways

Pics of players in trouble were hard to get . . until Boris topped his ball
on the 14th tee and had to play a second shot from behind the white markers!

 President's Address

President Brett Fordham opens the meeting

There were no birthdays to announce as the Communications Officer had misplaced his membership list! Fortunately, Gim's birthday on 2 December was mentioned last week, and there were none in the current week!

Brett was sad to advise that visiting member Kerry Gardner will be leaving later today to return to the UK to family (and a white Christmas?) after an all too short visit to reunite with friends and play golf in warmer weather!  Fortunately, Paul will be with us for a while longer so he can continue to show that his form has not diminished!!

Brett noted Carol's recent email advising of the annual 'Christmas Cheer' event had been sent to all members.  Barry and Jenny Treak have kindly made their beautiful home available and the event will commence immediately after the golf on Saturday, 17 December. There will be food and drink and a 'Secret Santa' draw. Wrapped gifts with a value of no more than $20 per person can be placed in Santa's bag on arrival!

Tony James was spotted at Wembley Golf Course today looking sprightly and smiling! Tony has recently undergone a bit of heart plumbing repairs and hopes to join us soon on the fairways!

Greg Bennett still has several copies of the 'SOS Golf Group - Season Results 2022'  to hand out to members. If you have not received yours, please see Greg!

Did someone go barefooted ?

Ash Tray Collection

Shelley advised that the November 'Ash Tray' collection for the donation to the Kings Park Honor Avenue Committee only covered 3 'Saturdays' this year! So today's collection (3 December) will be included in the donation to bring it closer to its normal amount.

Shelley read out the 'Diggers' fine list and managed to get most members and guests to clean out their pockets of loose change - all for a very good cause!

Shelley reads out the fines as Dave collects the coins!

Nuria collects on the other side of the table.

Raffle

The raffle barrel, wooden balls and numbered buttons were nowhere to be found, so it was decided to have a blind draw from the score cards!

The raffle hopefuls wait for the draw
as Steph & Kerry chat in the background!

And the winner is  . . . .  Lynne Malone who scores a $20 gift voucher from Lot Six Zero !

Lynne wins !

Greg, Paul Cooper & Tony Gooch contemplate todays results?

Kerry & Paul Gardner looking relaxed  - and why not?
Good golf, good friends & a drink or two !

Next Week

Four Ball Best Ball Stableford

The game is scheduled to commence at 7.24 am on the Old Course

In 4BBB Stableford two players play as partners although the hole is played by each of them, using their individual full handicaps. At the conclusion of the hole, that player recording the highest number of points has his or her score entered on the card.
