Diggers Trophy

The Tuart Course was the venue for the annual battle for the Diggers Trophy. Almost clear blue skies, a warm breeze, which picked up toward the end of the round, saw 25 SOS members assemble at the first tee of the Tuart Course!

There was plenty of sunscreen being slapped on and most had only one layer of clothing! Summer must be on its way!

On the Fairway & Greens

Mark H & Gordon emerge from the left rough after both
Gordon and Keith drove their 1st hole tee balls into the trees!

A few metres further down the hill Keith's recovery shot hit Peter's buggy, denying Keith a direct shot at the green with his 3rd stroke!

Post Match Meeting

The plates of hot chips were very welcome after a hard day on the course!

Presidents Address

Brett Fordham addresses members

SOS President, Brett Fordham, welcomed members to the post match meeting and advised that three members celebrate their birthdays this week! Peter Baird whose birthday is on Sunday 6 November, Mark Wilson on the 10th and Birgit Reinartz on the 11th!

Brett confirmed the SOS 50th Anniversary Dinner is on Saturday 19 November and RSVP's should be notified to Carol without delay.

The Results

At the top of the table, SOS Club Captain, Gerry Tessier
announced the competition results for the Diggers Trophy

And the winner was Mark Hill scoring +2 with Colin Kerr in 2nd place on 'all square' and Keith Barrow in 3rd place at -1.

Those at the meeting will have no doubt noticed that Carol Barrow has slipped from 2nd place to 9th after the card reading machine had been fixed and discovered that Carol's manually calculated score had been found to have some serious errors!! A substantial fine is definitely in order for next week's Ash Tray collection; and perhaps Carol can share it with her scorer?

Who came first?!!

Golden Hole

The Golden Hole on the Tuart is now worth $150 (3rd hole) and $46 (12th hole), as no-one got close to either! Next week's game is also on the Tuart, so a bit of practice on short par 3's would not go amiss!!

Ash Tray Collection

Greg Bennett bagged the lollies this week in a surprising reversal of recent form! There were 4 other members who were one or less points away!

Shelley agreed to take on the calling out of the list of fines and was helped by coin collectors Greg and Dave.
Shelley works the members into a fine paying frenzy!

There were many lost balls and windy's it seemed as members emptied their pockets for a wide variety of transgressions!

Raffle

Barry assists Stephanie in drawing the raffle numbers

Stephanie spun the barrel . . . . . and the winner was Dave!

Dave receives the raffle prize, a gift voucher from Lot Six Zero

Boris wins a minor raffle prize handed to him by Shelley!

Next Week

The President's Cup is the prize next Saturday, 12 November.
The competition will be played on the Tuart Course commencing around 7.24am!
The format will be advised shortly.

Captain's Corner

Many of SOS members cannot hit any of these shots to order and must instead rely on the principles of random luck!

So, hit the link and see if you can lower your handicap!

End  . . . 😂  . . . . 🏆
