Club Championship Round 5

The forecast was for scattered showers however they all missed the Wembley Golf Course enabling the 22 SOS Members to enjoy a very pleasant round on the Old Course.

The 5th round of the 7 round Club Championship enabled a number of members to consolidate their aggregate scores, whilst others hoped their inflated scores would be eliminated from their 'best of 5 rounds'.  Only 8 players managed to score 75 net, or less!  Ten players scored over 100 strokes gross!!

At the 1st tee . . .  Mark S, Earle, Derek & Greg

Gerry photo-bombs Shelley!

Mark Smith contemplates his first tee shot?

Stephanie is early!  Or did Glen's initial players list
 show a 9.06 start instead of 9.30?

Earle, Shelley, Derek in Group 5 & Glen in Group 6.

'The black Tee Box Mob' ready to tee off!

Fairways & Greens

What better way to start than to watch oour SOS Club President, Brett Fordham, in effortless form, as he powers his first tee shot down the fairway!

Andrea, Gary & Derek catch some early morning sun!

Mark is happy to be back but will be off to the UK soon!

Recent storms had littered the ground with twigs, leaves and sticks.
Stephanie does a bit of housekeeping!

Before launching her ball back onto the fairway !

Meanwhile . .

Gerry thought this was his orange ball, but
it turned out to be mandarin peel!

Group 4 'selfie' while Brett was hitting his ball!

Barry's putt on the 17th green just would not drop
despite foot stamping,  a lengthy wait and loud exhortations!!

It was sooooo close!!

President's Address

SOS President, Brett Fordham opened proceedings by calling the meeting to order!

Brett congratulated Mark Hill who celebrated his birthday last week on 27 July.

Brett noted the SOS annual Country Cup event was fast approaching and will be held on 25 September 2022 at the Araluen Country Club, in the southern Perth foothills. Further details will be announced in coming weeks.

The Results

SOS Club Captain, Gerry Tessier, had a hard time containing his excitment as he listed off the players from last place to first!

Mark Wilson, who is normally higher up on the results list, humbly accepted the bag of lollies and fines list, with a net score of 89.

However, in first place Gerry had to congratulate himself for scoring a net 69 points, 3 points clear of Stephanie in 2nd place on 71 points and Birgit another one point more on 72.

Ash Tray Collection

Mark Wilson did a great job in rattling the tin as members tossed in their loose change to pay for their poor golf strokes, profanity, abused equipment . . . and many other misdeeds!

In the video we see Earle helping to collect fines as fingers are pointed at potential donors!

The first ball is drawn by Goochy, assisted by Boris!

The barrel was churned and the first number drawn was 30, held by Peter, who was too busy taking photos to realise he was the winner of a Lot Six Zero $20 gift voucher! Thanks to Gim to spotting the winning disc amongst Peter's paperwork!
