Soaked on Tuart and Anniversary Dinner

It was only a matter of time before the rain gods forgot to smile on the SOS Saturday round of golf!

It got very wet!  However, all 15 players managed to complete the round despite flooded bunkers, underwater tees and fairways subject to inundation!!

The stableford competition on the Tuart Course only attracted 15 players, while others heeded the midweek weather forecast of up to 32 mm of rain, with possible thunderstorms, on Saturday!

The post game get-together was deferred to the SOS 50 Year Anniversary International Dinner scheduled for 6.00pm at the Lot Six Zero Bistro & Eatery, Innaloo.

Eagles & Birdies

The only birdie reported was made by Tony Gooch on the 17th hole!
This was a remarkable achievement given the adverse weather conditions which apparently worsened over the last few holes!

No Eagle in these conditions!

Golden Hole

Many tried, but no-one got close!

Next Week

The Match Play quarter final will be held on the Old Course. Confirmation of the match play pairs will be released later this week together with handicaps.   Competitors should use the Wembley card only.
The Club Captain, Gerry Tessier, will announce any late changes to players or handicaps prior to commencement of play.

SOS Vice Captain, Tony Gooch, has chosen a Stableford Divorce Competition for players who are not participating in the Match Play quarter final.  The competition has teams of 2 players. The individual stableford scores for both players in the team are multiplied to arrive at a team score. Each team to use a single Wembley standard course card showing each team members score by hole as well as the team score. Remember 3 x 0 = 0 , so important that both team members obtain a score on each hole!  The winning team will be announced in the post game venue.

Gerry advises that the competition results for 23 July have not yet been taken up by GolfLinks. He's working on it and it should soon be fixed!

SOS 50th Anniversary International Dinner

A large group of SOS members, their partners and friends attended the 50th Anniversary International Dinner at the Lot Six Zero eatery & expresso bar at Innaloo on Saturday night.

Again, we are very grateful to Glen and Lindsay Pope for making their restaurant available for the evening.  Lot Six Zero has been a major sponsor of the SOS Golf Group for a number of years and their generosity in sponsoring SOS Golf Group shirts and providing social venues has been very much appreciated.

The SOS Social Organisers, led by Frances Longhurst, presented a magnificent range of delicacies from around the world prepared in the kitchens of SOS's multi cultural members.  Numerous foreign dishes were matched with the humble Aussie snag and potato salad. The strawberry, raspberry and blueberry fruit salad (and cream) was especially delicious as well as colorful!

THE MENU

A great disappointment was the absence of Matt & Bernie's Irish Sausages; even more so was the absence of Matt & Birnie who had CoVid issues!!

A delicious plate of pretzels!

Earle Scarff did his magic in selecting a range of wines and beers of excellent quality to accompany the courses.
