Tuart Pairs

Perfect weather for playing a stableford competition on the Tuart Course where paired teams combined their scores.  The light rain failed to materialise, but almost 100% cloud cover at the start made for ideal conditions, with the sun making an appearance later in the round.

Guests players included Andrea Williams, Paul Boquest & Mark Curtis.

Paul Boquest, Mark Hill & Tony Gooch launched the competition as the first group.
Mark & Tony were Team 1 which was not necessarily an indication of their finishing place!!

Gordon Gryzb, Birgit and Gerry basking in the autumn weather!

Barry Treak & Gary Burgess looking confident!

Michael Curtis, Andrea Williams & Tony James ready to roll!

The Fairways

No photos were received from players this week, so you will have to settle for a few taken by the blogger . . .

TJ's ball heads for the green on the 7th hole.
Tony's only needed his putter for his 2nd stroke!
Few can drive a ball dead straight the full distance of this fairway!!

Brett and Gordon watch on as TJ re-enacts his 2nd stroke on the 7th hole!

7 holes later . . . . . . .

TJ's 2nd shot on the 14th hole travelled straight past the pin
and came perilously close to drowning!
"Now, I will just take a pace back to get a better line!"

Still dry, TJ lines up his putt.

\

The team of Brett & TJ were chastised for allowing their group to fall a full 2 holes behind the group in front, apparently due to their long and often wayward tee shots disappearing deep into the scrub or adjacent fairways! While they had hired a motorised buggy to assist them in chasing down these balls it appeared of little help. Perhaps a D9 dozer or drone may have been of more assistance?

After the Game

Time for a chat and a cool drink as the last teams trickle in.

The final groups settle in!

Gerry calculates the team scores!

President's Address

The meeting is brought to order!

SOS President, Brett Fordham, welcomed all present including guests Andrea Williams, Paul Boquest and Michael Curtis.

Brett congratulated Colin Kerr, one of our esteemed honorary members, who celebrates his birthday on 3rd April!
Brett makes a point

After being set back for 2 weeks due to coring work on the greens, Brett confirmed the Perry Lakes Cup will finally be contested next Saturday, 9 April; a stableford event on the Old Course.

The Results

SOS Club Captain, Gerry Tessier, announces the results of the competitions.

Birgit was announced as the low scorer and received a bag of lollies for her effort as well as the fines sheet to read out for the Ash Tray collection!

Team Results

Congratulations to Michael Smith & Barry Treak for scoring a 2 point win over 2nd place getters Gary Burgess & Glen Pope!

In 3rd place was Mark Smith & Frances Longhurst, another 9 points back on 67 !

Individual Stableford Competition

Golden Hole

The Golden Hole jackpotted yet again, so the total pot must be getting to be a tidy sum!
Perhaps a little more practice is required by members?

Nice to see no-one hogging the limelight with multiple gongs!

Eagles & Birdies

Firstly, an apology to Greg Bennett for not recording his excellent birdie on the 18th hole last week.
Greg's tee shot pulled up about 5 metres short of the green, leaving about 15 metres to the hole. Greg's putt tracked true, navigating past duck droppings, leaves and tree seeds to drop neatly into the hole.
Nice birdie, Greg!!

Captains Corner

Has anyone recently experienced having their ball become unplayable in a bunker?

Or requiring relief from a abnormal course condition in a bunker?

It can happen, so see if you can remember these rules!
