Easter Cup

An early start at 7.45am welcomed 21 intrepid SOS golfers to do battle for the Easter Cup in a stableford competition on the Old Course.

The Easter Bunnies!
Lynley & Lynne with lots of mini Easter Eggs!

Although the wind picked up around midday, the weather was magnificent with blue skies and the odd bit of cloud cover.

Gerry & Birgit looking relaxed at the start!!

Honorary Members Greg Bennett & Colin Kerr ready to start.

Stephanie, Earle & Glen . . . with an Easter Bunny
 in the background!

Gary, Tony & Vickie lead the charge in Group 1

The Game

Colin's drive from the 1st tee found the base of the 'big tree' !

Which required a bit of dexterity to get the ball back in play!

Mitchell's tee shot on the 2nd hole only just found its way beyond the white markers
as evidenced by the significant divot in the foreground!
(The green is to the left)

Indeed! The divot, which was similar in size to a soup plate, flew high into the air
and travelled nearly as far as the ball did on the tee shot !!

There were several groups that appeared to take a lot longer than the allocated 3 minutes to search for lost balls!

Meanwhile, Birgit was keeping her shots to the centre of the fairways!

Birgit takes another swipe after clearing the tee area!

President's Address

President Brett Fordham congratulated Lynley and Lynne for their Easter Bunny outfits and copious quantities of Easter Eggs handed out during the round! There were eggs to be had everywhere, with Shelley Yeo also performing 'Easter Bunny' duties! Excellent job ladies!

Good news from Dave Williamson who is recovering and keen to be back playing with us again - he sends his regards to all.

James Weaver has advised he is recovering from issues with his CoVid vaccination but expects he will also be back to play soon.

While we welcomed back Maureen to last week's game after an extended break, she has informed us she has since contracted CoVid and and will be taking a break from golf for a few weeks! SOS sends you its best wishes for a quick recovery!!

This week birthdays are celebrated by Shelley Skinner (19th) and Pugdog (20th). Happy Birthday to you both!

A reminder to members that Fellowship Day will be celebrated on 21st May when a team of SOS's best will compete against a team from the Blind Golfers Association of WA.

Next week's game is the first round of the Club Championship competition. There are 7 rounds finishing on 3 September. To be eligible to accept a Club Championship trophy, members must play at least 11 games in the winter season, including at least 5 championship days.

President Brett Fordham makes a point!
