Despite bad weather forecast 18 SOS players came playing the first round of the Spring Cup. Was it the spring cup? Was it stroke play?
2 players (we keep them anonymous) thought we’re playing stableford, picked up their balls and scoring the maximum of 10 points per hole.
There were other happenings.
Group 3 lost Brett on hole number 1 to the fairway of the Tuart, and someone heard Maureen saying that she lost her swing. Birgit lost the power of the buggy battery on hole number 1 and subsequently her swing on hole number 9.
Lynley and Lynne on the driving range smiling for the camera while TJ is concentrating on this next practice shot.
Then TJ practicing his autograph….
Steph, Vicky and
Frances… glorious smiles
The second group
looks happy before their tee off… Gerry, Frances and TJ
Barry, Brett,
Birgit and Derek smiling happily for the camera…..for some the tides change J
Mishaps on the course:
Derek & Barry enjoying the beach
Fran chasing her umbrella
Gerry playing the unplayable ball with his chipper
Back in the clubhouse the players enjoyed their drinks and the French fries or let’s call them Belgian fries as both countries claim to have them invented.
TJ helping with
the collection on the other side of the table.
Now let’s have a
look at the results, family Longhurst was again going strong and some shockers
at the bottom of the list.

Announcement of
the captain:
We are going to have
a new competition at our club called the BENKERR Cup in honour of Greg & Colin
who are the longest SOS group members. Some call it Ryder Cup we call it
Australia vs ROW (=rest of the world)
Brett will be
captain of the Aussie team and Gerry captain of the ROW team. Co-captains still
to be nominated.
16.Oct: 2BBB
Stableford on Tuart
23. Oct: Ambrose 4
players on the Old Course.
This should be fun
and everybody should enjoy a good time together. More details will come soon,
e.g. T-shirt colours to wear etc.
One heard that the
losing team is going to pay the french fries for the whole group.
Yes, Birgit did
something like that……
