Club Championship Round 2

Distinctly cooler weather greeted 22 SOS players for the Second Round of the Club Championship on the Old Course!  A light breeze, overcast skies and a good deal of residual smoke from controlled bush-fires in the hills, saw most players do the entire round with two layers of clothing on the top half!

Imagine having your putt do this!!

Fortunately, no-one disappeared while putting however, the greens, which had been cored in recent weeks, were fairly quick resulting in many putts going much longer than planned!

Maureen, Glen and Gim rugged up at the start !

Even Boris has a singlet under his club colours.

Half way down the fairway are Earle, Derek & Frances!

Shot of the Day - Birgit's Magical Chip

Birgit's golf game took a great leap forward on the par 4, hole 3, when she accomplished a spectacular 'Up & Down' from some 35 meters; more so as the ball had to fly over the yawning chasm of the right side bunker, landing within a few centimetres of the hole!

Birgit's stupendous 'Up & Down' !

Glen's drive on the 8th hole came to rest against a very non-permanent artificial obstruction in the form of a soak well weighing in at several tonnes which had yet to be installed! Glen took no time at all in invoking R&A Rule 16.1a and took relief without penalty!

Glen's ball comes to rest at the base of the non-permanent artificial obstruction!

Welcome back Mr President !

Competition results

Club Captain Jerry Tessier holds the attention of Tony, Keith and Glen
as he announces the competition results.

Congratulations to Frances for a noteworthy 4 under par 68, with Tony Gooch on par and Keith Barrow on one over.  Nice work from the podium players!

Other commitments did not allow Frances to stay for the meeting and savor her victory.
