With the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting many mm's of rain, particularly near the coast, most players came well prepared with umbrellas, oilskins and bag covers. It was also pretty bloody cold for the second week in a row!
As a consequence, no-one stripped down to reveal the name of our venerable sponsor:
Lot Six Zero eatery and espresso bar
In fact, the rain only fell for a relatively short period of time, about 4 holes worth, and was never torrential or accompanied by strong wind. One could say that the gods are still with us in the weather department.
Certainly not bad enough to deter 23 SOS members as well as guest Glen Kelly from venturing out onto the fairways of the Tuart Course.

Can you spot the ball? |
Arrrhhhh ! There it is !Who said Steff was barking mad ? |
Greg and Dave bring out the sandwiches ! |
While Paul, who had been hitting a few long balls off the tee, let loose the power of the pendulum on the 7th tee! The strike was inspirational with the ball making its way straight down the fairway, between the two sand traps, onto the green, past the flag stick and the feet of the group in front who were putting out and, finally, coming to rest a few inches off the green!
SOS players assemble for the post match awards ceremony and speculate who may have won the Winter Cup.
Any winners here ?
Or perhaps here !
Now, at this juncture, and to avoid too much pain, it might be beneficial to follow Will Smith's often repeated words . . . . .
Otherwise . . . .
Yes, indeed, James Weaver did not win the Winter Cup !
After much Committee deliberation and reviewing the recent changes to the SOS By-Laws for 36 hole competition count-backs, the winner of the Winter Cup for 2020 is:
Frances Longhurst
James, with a tied score of 147 strokes, secured 2nd place on a countback !
Frances looking every bit a winner ! |
James also looking like a winner, but secured 2nd place ! |
Gary has to settle for 3rd place with a score of 148 ! One less shot would have resulted in a 3 way count-back!! |
Another 6 strokes behind, Derek secures a creditable 4th place. |
EAGLES
James made a spectacular EAGLE on the 17th hole and is awarded the $25 cash prize! |
